public breast feeding tips

What tricks, clothing, and covers do you use for the easiest breast feeding in public?

Re: public breast feeding tips

  • I just drape an Aden & Anais blanket over my shoulder/baby

  • Anything that buttons or able to pull down in the front easily. I think stiff cups on nursing bras make it difficult to nurse. They just seem to get in the way

  • I like to wear a nursing tank, usually under whatever shirt I wear that day. That way if I'm shopping I can throw my nursing cover on lift up my shirt but pull down my tank and nurse even while walking without being exposed. Even without the cover between the two shirts it's still pretty discreet.
  • I never used a cover. I did a nursing tank and shirt over.

    If I wanted to wear a bra or a shirt that looked bad with a tank, I would put my pregnant belly band on so that my stomach was covered. Then, the short covers boob. It's really actually simple, you'll be a pro soon!

  • I agree with @rileysmama2007. I use a muslin blanket over my should and my LO.
  • I wear and tank top under my shirt. When I nurse I lift up my shirt and pull down the top of my tank top. My shirt covers the top part of my boob and baby's head covers my nipple. You can't see anything and baby doesn't have to be under a cover, which a lot of babies don't like

  • Thanks! I'll be trying these tips out:)
  • I haven't been successful enough with nursing to need or be able to do it in public, but while pregnant I bought an Udder Cover. I've used it once at home when we had company and I really liked it. It goes around your neck and has some lightweight "wiring" around the front collar area that you can mold so that you are able to look down under the cover and see your nursing baby. Wish I was in a position to actually have a need for it in public. :(
  • I tried a thin muslin blanket & would have to put it over my head because I can't latch with my eyes closed- then when we were latched if move the cover off of my head so it just covered baby- but my hair would get messed up & sometimes he would come unlatched. I bought an udder cover & can watch him the whole time discreetly. I really like it. I'm not a pro & am pretty self conscious so it works for me.
