Baby shower.. is it too late?

I'm a first time mom the first shower my best friend is hosting one i will be 32 weeks and the "big one" with both of mine and my bf family is on the 1st of August im going to be 36 weeks. My mom said Its a little too far along but i feel we cant do the second shower sooner because we just registered and we still have to get everything ready...i feel were so behind on things like this. My pregnancy has been good so i feel by then it will continue to be good. any suggestions, advice???

  • I think you'll be just fine to have a shower at 36 weeks. You may be feeling uncomfortable at that point but I have several friends who waited that late to have their shower and it went just fine.

  • Mine are at 34 & 35 weeks. I know it can be exhausting to be social for an afternoon, so I plan to have my husband and SIL help me sort through stuff after the shower. Cut tags off, wash stuff, organize, etc. Also try to make a 'return' pile and have someone take those items back for store credit for you. That way you will have gift cards after baby to buy stuff you need. You might be uncomfortable, but people should be helping you out that day.
  • I will be 35 weeks at my shower it is what it is :-)

My shower was at 36 weeks.
  • I think you will be ok. My next shower is a week before I deliver. It was the only time I could do it. Fingers crossed he doesn't come early! :)
  • I'll be 36 weeks for my shower on July 11th.
  • My shower is at 36 weeks on July 18th!  You're not alone :)  It's not too late.  Plus it will give you something to look forward to during the long last month (which I hear can feel like 10 years, lol!)
  • I feel the same! My baby shower was supposed to be June 6 but due to a recent death in the family 5 days prior we decided to reschedule for July 11. I'll be 35 weeks. I feel like it's cutting it too close because at this point she can come whenever she's ready but I don't really have much of an option at this point but cross my fingers and hope for the best.
  • I had a friend who scheduled it for 35 weeks, but that's when her little boy arrived. The baby shower was rescheduled a month later and we got to meet the baby, and I really didn't notice any difference. I don't think it is too late. :)

  • Don't even know when mine is ;) Guessing about 2-3 weeks away since my mom just asked me for my wedding address list. At that point I will be 35-36 weeks.
  • You should be fine. Mine is right at 35 weeks, and I haven't given it a second thought.

My shower is July 11th too, I'll be 36 weeks then as well. I had my first shower at 36 weeks with DD1.. The only thing that wasn't fun was my wedding ring got stuck lol!! I carried DD1 for another 5 weeks ;)
  • Personally I wouldn't want to be setting things up that late. If your SO will do that for you then I guess it's not really a big deal, by then with DS I was huge, swollen, and nesting was huge. I was freaking out about the things I thought I needed and didn't have. Lol.

  • I'll be 37 weeks at my shower on 7/18. I'm more than a little nervous about cutting it so close but judging by some of the previous posters maybe I'll be fine. This is my first so I'm not anticipating her to come early, at least.
  • Thank you ladies it gives me a relief because I see a lot of people doing them at 7 months and I'm over her like hmmm opps. lol

My wedding ring is still pretty loose on my finger let's hope it stays that way haha. The only upside of having the shower that late is that the last 4 weeks or maybe even less, I'll be doing some extreme nesting so I won't be too bored thinking about when he'll come.. hopefully 8->
  • I think you should be ok. Just have the basics in the house just in case.
  • I don't know when mine will be, but I got the basics just in case. Im 31 weeks, but none of my other 3 kids have been early
  • Mine is also July 11th. I'll be 33 weeks. I wanted my shower for the last week of June but my sister is throwing it so that's when she set it for... I wanted it for June incase I still needed to buy a lot of stuff that I didn't get it, and wouldn't freak out about not having enough time. Oh well. It is what it is. I just hope he comes after my shower and I at least have his crib built instead of in pieces with no mattress. Just got his car seat/ stroller in the mail today which I'm VERY excited about!
  • I believe 36 weeks is about average. I'm having mine at 34 and honestly it almost feels too soon. I wanted extra time to shop around though and put things together so that I'm not scrambling at the last minute
