No HCG test. :(

I've been waiting all this time for bloodwork confirmation to know this blueberry was on track and I found out this morning they didn't order a HCG test. They assume with the at-home test and the internal at the first appt that everything is fine. They did the basic pre-natal levels but that's it. I've been reading everyone's posts the past two weeks about the HCG levels and even my SO was waiting for that confirmation to allow himself to get attached. We have an ultrasound the 26th so it's two more weeks of waiting to ensure there is something growing in there. Just emotional and disappointed. And anxious. You girls know how that is. ;-) Thanks for letting me vent!

    HCG levels are really most useful in the beginning and taken repeatedly to check for doubling. Once you're at the point of blueberry the acceptable range is so vast it really wouldn't tell you much of the viability of the pregnancy. At this point just hold out and wait for your scan.

    Yep, I've seen blighted ovum and etopics with high HCG levels. Most healthy normal pregnant women don't get betas drawn. I never had in 4 pregnancies.

    They mostly do HCGs on women being followed by an infertility specialist, or women who have had a fair amount of losses.

    Look at it this way, no beta blood work = lower odds that something might go wrong. Your scan will help you both come to terms with this pregnancy much better. This is my 4th and the very first time I haven't had to wait until 20 weeks to see my LO.

    Same here! No scan until 13 weeks either, since that's when the doctor could schedule it... I can't help but be worried when I have no idea what's in there :( hopefully all goes well!!

    Echoing the others. You usually only have your levels drawn if the doctor is concerned.

    My doctor didn't check for hcg levels either.

    My office typically doesn't check HGC but because I have to have my progesterone checked they just do it too.  They won't put me on progesterone supplements unless I'm showing good doubling!
