Feels like I am suffocating!

Every once in a while, I get this feeling like I can't catch my breath, almost like I just ran 20 miles and it happens when I am just sitting and not doing anything! I'm wondering if it's because baby is starting to move up into my diaphragm possibly pressing against my lungs?? I haven't put on hardly any weight in this pregnancy due to extreme HG in the beginning so I know it's not due to putting on too much lbs. I even get light headed if I try to stand up and stretch my arms above my head to get more air. And I also try and lay down on my left side to help more blood flow. Any suggestions?! I almost think it could be related to anxiety too but I'm not sure because it happens when I don't feel anxious or anything.

Your uterus is expanding which is squishing everything else.

  • I get this feeling when I lay down on my back or am too far reclined on my back. When I move to my side it's much better. I hope you find what works best for you! :(
  • I feel like the baby is sitting on my lungs right now. Even just sitting I find it hard to catch my breath. I don't think it has anything to do with weight gain, just the baby trying to make some room!
