Alright, so me and my DH have come up with a baby name for our daughter that we BOTH love...but I'm really worried because I feel like it's one of those names you either love or hate, no in between. I just don't want people to make fun of us for choosing this name behind our back...but at the same time I love the name and haven't found any others that I like. I'm still looking around but my DH said no way are we changing it because he really likes it... the name is Annsley Grace. No, not Ainsley...you pronounce in Annz -lee. And I put 2 n's in it because I thought Ansley looked too masculine. Other spellings I have thought of are:
Annslie or
Annslea
What do you guys think...is the name absolutely horrible, should I not care what other people may say and what spelling is the best? Oh and not that this matters, but I told my mom the name and she DOES like it which does kind of matter to me, so that makes me feel a little better.
Re: My baby name
Ultimately the name is NMS But those are my two cents
Signed, person with a non variant spelling that has been annoying all my life.
My mom said the same thing about spelling it "Annslea" because of my name! I will definitely give it some thought

If I am reading this correctly, I believe Ainsley is the Scottish version, and Ansley is the English version.
Don't worry about people telling you how hard it will be for the kid.. This is not such a crazy name that they will have a real problem.
I have a unique name, Devin, that is unisex and spelled correctly but holy crap. I've spent my whole life correcting people on the sound and spelling. I don't care! My mom gave me the name knowing that I'd have a better chance getting a job (because employers wouldn't know if I was male or female) and it's just always been perfect for me. I don't mind all the "destiny?" Devine?" "Devon?" Questions! I Wouldn't trade it. Go with what you love.
It sounds like you have made your decision anyway but wanted to share my opinion.
I completely understand about your Mum loving it being a huge thing.. When both my Mum and MIL loved our name I was so relieved!
My first name is Abigail and I go by Abby. People have been spelling my name wrong my whole life, and this is the traditional spelling for both names. But nobody ever says my name incorrectly.
Annsley is cute! Go for it!
The argument that a name is made up is illogical to me because ALL names were made up at some point.
I suggest calling her by that name and writing notes to her so you make sure you love it before you have her or start monogramming crap
