Is this true?

I was reading something and I happen to come across an article that had to do with labor.
I know you can't believe everything you read but I ended up researching it and found quite a bit on it.
One thing I came across was diarrhea is a sign of labor or that labor is coming soon . Something along the lines of that.
I know this is tmi but I've have normal bowel movements since I became pregnant (which I'm thankful that I didn't get the bad end of it) and now all of a sudden that's happening to me and after reading that I'm kinda concerned, especially because I'm 32 weeks and anything can happen at any moment and I haven't changed my eating habits or nothing that would affect anything . I've tried eating bananas and what not and still doesn't work . So before I go all out to contact my doctor when I have an appointment on Tuesday , is their any truth to what I read ?

  • Yes diarrhea is a sign of early labor, but lots of other things can cause it. If you don't have contractions or other signs, I wouldn't be concerned.
  • I've had it at least once a week since becoming pregnant. I'm not concerned in the slightest and think it's maybe something I've eaten that the funny hormones are messing with. If you feel well otherwise and don't have any other labour symptoms then don't worry, just drink plenty of water so you don't get dehydrated.
  • I get it on and off during pregnancy. I know it can be a sign, but I don't remember ever getting it when I went into labor last time. I don't even think twice when I get it, I just remind myself it is better than being constipated.
  • Yes, it's a sign. However, there are also a ton of different signs that labor is imminent. Relax. If you are this concerned call your doctor.

  • If it were 100% true, I'd be in "labor" a couple times a week.. Lol.

I did, however, have it after my water broke with DD1, not before tho. I got a round of it as contractions began and I lost my mucous plug.. My body was slightly backwards in that respect lol but i was already in labor when it happened with me since my water had broke

Agree 100%! I need to go get some more fiber...

  • I had it three times in my first hour of labor and then it stopped. It was super painful and didn't start until I was having light contractions about ten minutes apart. So I would say if you don't have contractions you are totally fine.
