I was reading something and I happen to come across an article that had to do with labor.
I know you can't believe everything you read but I ended up researching it and found quite a bit on it.
One thing I came across was diarrhea is a sign of labor or that labor is coming soon . Something along the lines of that.
I know this is tmi but I've have normal bowel movements since I became pregnant (which I'm thankful that I didn't get the bad end of it) and now all of a sudden that's happening to me and after reading that I'm kinda concerned, especially because I'm 32 weeks and anything can happen at any moment and I haven't changed my eating habits or nothing that would affect anything . I've tried eating bananas and what not and still doesn't work . So before I go all out to contact my doctor when I have an appointment on Tuesday , is their any truth to what I read ?
Re: Is this true?
LOTS of things can cause loose stools - food that didn't agree with you (big category here), a cold virus, and just being pregnant! I've had both diarrhea and constipation over the last 7 months.
Yes, as part of the beginnings of labor your body can flush itself in the form of diarrhea and some old wives tales say diarrhea can even push you toward labor (but only if you're already headed that way.) But if you're not experiencing other symptoms (like contractions that are getting longer, stronger, and closer together) I wouldn't worry. Your main concern with diarrhea is dehydration.
If you are at all concerned call your doc though! It will put your mind at ease.
I did, however, have it after my water broke with DD1, not before tho. I got a round of it as contractions began and I lost my mucous plug.. My body was slightly backwards in that respect lol but i was already in labor when it happened with me since my water had broke
