Mastitis?

Yesterday I had fever and chills and started having pain in one of my breasts. I'm back at work and feeling a little better today but still have the pain and I'm not able to get as much when I pump that side. I'm guessing it's a plugged duct but would that be enough to cause a fever body aches Etc? How do you know when it is actually mastitis? Thanks in advance.

Re: Mastitis?

  • If you have a fever, it's a sign that you have some infection. I would see a doctor and in the meantime, put warm compresses, massage, and express milk as much as you can.

  • Fever, flu-like symtoms, extremely sore and red spot on boob = mastitis. I've had it 5 times.
  • Take a bath and put a warm wash cloth on your breast and then pump or breastfed. I would Def call your doctor.
