Update after OB visit

Thanks again to those of you who offered your wise and supportive words in my previous thread.  So I saw my OB this morning (I'm currently 40+3), and the good news is that the NST results were excellent - baby is doing just fine.  Bad news is that he's doing so well in there, he clearly does not want to come out.  He still has not dropped at all, cervix still high and thick and completely closed.  Next visit will be on Monday, when I will be 41+1.  We will do another NST and an ultrasound and talk more about induction if there is still no progress.  However, OB did say that if my cervix is still not dilating, then the induction only has a 50/50 chance of working, and a failed induction would likely lead to a C-section.

Cue complete breakdown in the doctor's office here.

Anyway, I spent the rest of today being very non-productive at work (that goodness I'm working from home right now) and researching ways to get my cervix going and get this baby moving.  In my research, I stumbled across the chiropractic Webster Technique - which my regular chiropractor had actually talked about with me months ago, but I had completely forgotten about.  I have had hip problems for years, and I am wondering if the frequent mis-alignment has made it hard for baby to scoot himself down toward the exit door (I know, don't listen to everything you hear from Dr. Google...).  So I scheduled an appointment for Friday morning with the pregnancy/Webster specialist at my chiro's office to get some guidance and hopefully makes some steps in the direction of preventing the  need for induction.  To be on the safe side, I do plan to call my OB's office tomorrow morning, just to make sure he's ok with this, but in the past, he's encouraged chiropractic care, so I suspect he won't have a problem with it.

Chiropractic appointment went very well.  She worked my pelvis hard!  She also gave me some stretches and exercises to do at home - including hanging upside down off the side of my couch?!?! - to help stretch out all the ligaments and hopefully get this baby moving in the right direction.  I'm going to see her every other day until I deliver, which will hopefully not be too much longer!

Hey welcome to my club...its a club I like to visit with each pregnancy...its called the I never dilate until in labor and I am usually forced into labor with an induction because my babies like to stay in so long and they also never drop until I am in labor a long time club.

Even after all these babies I still don't dilate before labor.  However, once labor started or they hooked me up on pictocin, I always dilated without a problem....so don't get too paniced about it. It might work out ok.

My last would not turn heads down and I spent a lot of time in those upside down positions!  Also try, if you weren't told, getting on your knees, leaning forward and laying your head down on the bed or floor or whatever and the raising your butt up into the air so its not resting on your legs.  So basically your back is sloped downward twords you head.  You can rest your head on your folded arms on the ground.  Stay that way for like 1/2 hour.  It helps rotate the baby so that they are lined up and can slide down or drop more easily.

@cneiding - I like the idea of hanging out on my knees with my head on the ground. I will do that tonight. Thanks for the tip!
