3rd Trimester

Exhausted

Why am I so tired? It seems like after lunch I'm ready for a nap. Since I'm at work until 4 I keep pushing on until the end of the day but it's catching up and it's getting depressing. Friends say I won't have energy again until the baby is years old. How do I get through this and find energy to get me through a day let alone raising my child? Is this normal or am I alone?

Re: Exhausted

  • Normal, unfortunately. That's the tough part, you get zapped of energy before you even give birth and then it gets worse. But better when they start sleeping more, not years later. But then worse still when you're chasing a 3 year old and pregnant again! It will eventually get better! Hang in there mama.

  • You are tired because your baby is taking all your energy! Normal.

Also, people who have had kids already LOVE to tell people all the negative stuff that comes along with babies. Don't listen to them. You will find your groove and be just fine.

As for now, drink a TON of water and try to be active as much as possible. That sounds exhausting but working out while pregnant always gave me more energy. Just listen to your body.

  • I am in the same boat with you. So tired and fatigued. But hang in there and get some sleep. Try to find something that helps wake you up.
What I am doing,... Going to bed a bit earlier, have Dh help with some of the house hold stuff, and every morning I get up I make a smoothie concoction and take a walk around the block. Just takes a few minutes but it wakes me up.
As far as being tired after pregnant for a few years, of course you will be tired here and there but just like before you were pregnant you will have your good days and bad days. Just remember that your child is a gift and you will help each other get through those tough sleepless times.
