or alcoholic bev? We're team green but my husbands mentor was Palmer and we're thinking about naming our son in his namesake. Likely Palmer Daniel. Last name Brown( so common I feel ok posting)
Yeah, I see the Arnold Palmer connection but the bigger issue I take is the name just screams surname to me. Was your husband's mentor's first name Palmer? Because if it's not, I'd go with whatever the FN is.
OP if you must use Palmer in the name to honor your husband's mentor then it would be best in the middle name spot. Daniel Palmer Brown would be just fine, and just as much an honor. The rest of the names on your list are all surnames just like Palmer... so they wouldn't pair well, at all. Parker Palmer... seriously? No. Don't do that to your kid.
I think of Palmer from Adam Sandler and Jennifer Annistons movie Just Go With It.
While I don't exactly love the name, I would definitely make it a middle and not first name. As Palmer can be made into a lot of jokes.
My vote is for Parker.

I'm a 6th grade teacher so I automatically think of the main character from the novel "The Wringer." I read this to my kiddos and they always love Palmer! He's super brave, trustworthy and stands up for what he believes in...an excellent name choice IMO !!
Palmer is my maiden name and I used it for my daughter's middle name. That being said, it was my nickname throughout my twenties and I had no issues with it being used for what people called me. I had one boyfriend that gave me crap about it, no one else.

I agree. Having said that, I like Ellis more than Palmer.
