Pregnant after a Loss

Finally have the nerve to introduce myself!

hello, everyone. I have been creeping around the loss boards and now this board for a bit, but I'm finally ready to talk to people that understand, and can hopefully stay positive through you all!

I am Miranda. I have a nine-year-old named Hunter. I gave birth to my beautiful son, Axl Owen, on January 20, 2015. I was only 20 weeks. He did not survive.

There was nothing wrong with him. My body simply went into early labor, and after being sent home three times (being told some bleeding after sex was normal) and a botched test (they checked my amniotic fluid and said it wasn't, and it was) I started contractions in the late night and went back in. My son was already crowning.

Our specialist said with the next baby I would have progesterone shots and possibly a cerclage. He said to wait four months and try again.

I just found out on June 6, 2015, that I'm pregnant again. I have not seen a doctor yet. We literally got pregnant the first month we tried, which is so awesome, but feels hard to believe.

I am so scared and anxious as well as happy. My due date for Axl is next week so my feelings are al over the place. I know I will question every cramp, blood, etc. I so hope I can be part of the community here, and I can get through this with a healthy, full term baby!! Tia!!

Re: Finally have the nerve to introduce myself!

  • Congratulations. I am having mostly the same feelings right now (my original due date is in November). We just found out Tuesday that I am pregnant after a d&c for a mmc in may. We certainly did not expect to get pregnant so soon being that it took us almost 7 months to get pregnant with our angel baby, however our DD was a complete surprise (we were not trying). Anyway, shock, excitement, feeling of loss for our angel, etc is going through my head right now. Praying for a healthy pregnancy for all of us!
  • I'm so sorry that happened to you, but want to congratulate you on this pregnancy. I'm sure you won't go back to that doctor, but look into a perinatologist. I've been seeing one with this pregnancy and, so far, they're very conservative (in a good way).

  • Welcome! I know a baby lost is unimaginable but when it's that late it's harder to accept. I lost my first at 6 months like you I just went into labor. My most recent loss was a mmc and I would've been due in August. It's tough but We are all here for each other. All of our different experiences makes it one of the most understanding and informative boards out there. Best of luck. When is your first appt?
  • Thank you all! I have to go Monday to get a doctor confirmed positive, and then see my options for a referral for a specialist. I feel so scatterbrained at the thought of all the stuff to come! I'm happy to have friends that understand!
  • I met with a specialist in high risk pregnancies before we got pregnant for a pre-conception counseling. He said progesterone shots starting at 16 weeks and a possibly cerclage if need be.
