Gas and Constipation-could it be formula?

my 6 week old baby girl just started having infrequent poops this week. She was having at least 2 per day. This week she went almost 2 days and just had one and it was a thick paste texture. She has been very gassy too. I started supplementing with Honest company formula, just one bottle every other day or so, just when I cannot feed her breast milk (I do not produce enough to to pump and breat feed). Anyone else have this issue? Wonder if I should call the DR or if her system is just getting used to formula.
Thanks!

  • Formula fed babies sometimes go days without pooping. That's very normal. However, with such a young baby, it's always best to ask a pediatrician.

My son suffers from constipation. He was only having a bowel movement once a week, and the stool was like dried play dough. The pediatrician switched his formula to Similac Sensitive, which he's currently on, but it didn't help. He now drinks daily one oz of prune juice mixed with one oz of water. With the help of the prune juice/water mix, he has a bowel movement once every two days, and the stool is much softer. According to the doctor that's okay.

My son was like this at 2 weeks turned out he was was lactose intorlent. So he's now on milk from the doctor.
Now he poops once a day no problems he's now 6 weeks old.
  • I would try switching your formula to a more sensitive one.
