How is the Bella Band supposed to fit?

I purchased two different sizes to see which would fit best. One is too big, the top part of the band is way too lose. It doesn't even stay up. The other fits pretty good but feels very snug around my hips and lower abdomen. I'm 12 weeks and can't imagine wearing this when I'm 20 weeks.

Are these only made for early pregnancy or how is it supposed to fit?

  • Mine is also snug, but I think it's supposed to be to hold your pants up :)

  • I would love to know the answer to this! I tried one on and it didn't do much for me so I decided to pass on purchasing it. I know some people who swear by it but it wasn't for me.
  • I absolutely love mine. It's a little loose up top, but on my hips I can have unbottoned pants and you can't tell. Mine wears like a much longer camisole. I'm expecting that as I grow it will fill out the top part. Hopefully this helps!

  • Mine is loose around the top too, but perfectly snug on the hips. I figured I'd fill out the top as I got bigger. Early on you're supposed to wear it folded over so you just cover your unbuttoned pants. As you get bigger you can unfold it.
  • I've never had mine be loose, but they are supposed to fit snugly. I do think they are supposed to be folded over in the earlier stages. I used these for my last pregnancy & loved them. I was a bit smaller to start, so I got the smaller size. I plan on using them for this pregnancy too, but as I'm a bit larger to start with, I'm anticipating needing the larger band towards the end. The smaller band is already getting too tight & I'm only 15 wks. But I tend to start showing super early.
  • Hmmm.... sounds like I'm in between sizes. I guess I'll keep the smaller one since it does hold my pants up well right now and will just have to find something else later on. Thanks!
  • Maybe you have it too low on your hips? Wear it just low enough to cover your buttons and also fold it over.
  • Umm silly question but what is a belly band for?

So you can still wear your non-maternity pants! You can leave your pants unbuttoned and hide the openness with the belly band. Like PPs said, it looks like you are wearing a long cami or tank.

ETA: I've been wearing mine for 3 or 4 weeks now. Got it for a deal on eBay. Look for the one with elastic at the bottom (doesn't roll up).

  • So I am a FTM here and I bought the belly band that Target offers for $16.99.... I would suggest against this one... It CONSTANTLY rolls up and "eats" your shirt. People will definitely know that your wearing one. Any tips would be great on the style to buy and where :)
  • @cherrybloss - search eBay for this auction: 261907890554. It has pics of the one I have on with the elastic @ the bottom. I don't have any problem with it rolling up. It fits me snugly (I went with size 2), but not uncomfortably. Not sure what they retail for. I bought mine on an auction for $13.

  • I just bought the Bella band today. I got the small size and while it's snug, it fits comfortably for me. I folded it in half. I also scored a MAJOR deal on them. $4 each! Hopefully they stretch with me for a while lol
