Hi there,
I'm almost 32 weeks and have been having BH contractions for a number of weeks now (which I never had in my first pregnancy) but in the last week they have become really painful. Last week I had 2 contractions in the space of 12 hours that felt like the real thing. I went to my doctor as BH became regular after the second contraction (every 5-8mins for about 3hrs). My doctor listened to baby's heartbeat which was fine, BP was normal, my urine sample showed I had a UTI and it hurt when she put pressure on my lower abdomen. The doctor did not give me an examination to see if I was in labour just said I had a UTI/bladder infection , prescribed me antibiotics and sent me home to rest. I felt very brushed off and that they were too busy to investigate properly. I have been taking antibiotics for nearly a week and today my BH are so painful they take my breath away, and I can't move. They have not stopped all day. I don't want to go to the hospital if I don't have to, as I live so far away from our nearest hospital. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I go back to my doctor? (I work 5 days a week and today was the first time my BH contractions really affected me to the point where I considered going home!)

I would call your doctor and update them on your new situation and see what they say, and maybe try to get in to be seen. UTIs that progress to kidney infections can cause early labor, so it's definitely worth a call to get their opinion and get yourself checked out again. I wouldn't go to the hospital unless your doctor recommends it or you are fairly certain that you're in labor. - Loading the player...
