Started doing prenatal yoga

I by no means am one who likes to or even tried to go out of my way to exercise. I have two kiddos who I run around with and a puppy who NEEDS to move constantly. I also have a nice spot on the sofa where I transform into a potato and watch relentlessly episodes upon episodes of Gilmore Girls. However today looking at myself in the mirror I thought maybe I can try yoga. It's low impact and I'm a beginner so it's going to be hard at first but it's supposed to be a great work out. So I did it! I YouTubed prenatal yoga for beginners. There are so many to choose. I opted for my first one to be short to see how I feel. 10 minutes of breathing and stretching. It was wonderful. I actually can not wait to try it again. Has anyone else done prenatal yoga? If so was it in person or online? I think this is something new I would like to really get into.

I have never done it but I am definitely going to try later in the day! A lot of mommy friends have suggested it as well! :)

  • Hi! I'll be trying beginner prenatal yoga today! With YouTube. :) Other than that, I walk for exercise now that I get fatigued so easily.
  • I have done prenatal yoga! Loved every minute of it during my last pregnancy, especially in my second trimester when my lower back and right hip pain really started to flare up. I haven't started again this time yet but your post inspired me!
  • I did it during my last pregnancy and really enjoyed it. I'll definitely do it again for this one :) YouTube videos are a good call though. With two little ones at home, I don't have as much free time for classes out of the house.

I did prenatal yoga my whole last pregnancy and thought it was great. I'm a yoga regular so the prenatal seemed like a natural option to me. I usually do it On Demand and I bought a dvd too. I plan to add it in to my work out routine this time too!
  • I'm glad you posted this. A place by my house does prenatal yoga one evening a week and I really want to try it out. I may go tomorrow. It's not weird to start going this early is it? I will only be 6 weeks. I just want to get off to a good start because I developed scoliosis with DD and had to see a chiropractor otherwise I was in terrible pain.

I do yoga all the time - for over eight years. You can do regular yoga too - not just prenatal. Better to go to a class if you can. They'll help you with form. The energy of your classmates is a really nice part of the experience too.
  • I did it last time for a few weeks - I'm not a yoga person I've learned after years of trying it over and over.

I do love me a good walk/hike or spending time in the water.

  • I love that i can google a youtube video for this. I wanted to incorporate prenatal yoga, and this is a super affordable way to do so!

  • I'm glad to hear that a lot of people like prenatal yoga. I've done yoga before pregnancy and I really liked it. It's really relaxing and I feel great afterwards. I haven't done it since finding out, though. I'm definitely going to try!
