2nd Trimester

When Did you 1st feel baby and has it been consistent since?

Hi everyone! I'm pregnant with my second baby and as it's been almost 4 years since my 1st I feel like I'm relearning everything! with my 1st pregnancy I felt flutters/bubbles at about 18/20 weeks. This pregnancy I have felt flicks starting at 15.5 weeks. But the last few days I haven't been feeling them at all. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this inconsistency kind of early on and if I should see my dr or if I have any other options? I'm even thinking of getting an at home Doppler. Any help/suggestion is welcome!! :)

  • My feelings were pretty inconsistent too at first. Started at about 17 weeks, but there were days at a time when I didn't feel anything. I'm 22+6 now, and just in last 1-2 weeks have the kicks and rumbles been consistent.

I didn't feel daily activity until 24-25 weeks. Even then it was only once or twice a day. I started feeling her consistently every few hours around 32.5 weeks. It's totally normal to feel movement only every so often until third tri. The baby is small and has a lot of room to move around still, so it completely depends on its position. It can also depend on where your placenta implanted...mine is anterior so that blocked a lot of the earlier kicks.
  • I started to feel LO at exactly 19 weeks (about a week ago); since then, I've felt movements every day, although I know that it is also very common to not feel movements regularly early on, so I wouldn't worry :)
  • Ahh thank you all so much for your input! I'm only 17 weeks so I've got a little more time before babe is big enough to feel all of his movements.
  • You don't have to worry about consistent movement until around 27, 28 weeks. That's when your doctor will tell you to start counting kicks.
  • I felt my first flutter at 17 weeks but I would go days without feeling anything. I am 20 weeks now and feel something at least once a day....I start to worry when I don't feel anything but the baby is still so small right now. And my doctor said at this point it isn't the baby kicking, it is the baby flipping! That was crazy to me. Also, if you are smaller figured you feel movements sooner then larger figured (the docs say)....
  • I am 18 weeks and I first felt my baby last week. It's def not constant, some days more than other.

I love my Doppler! Get one if you think it'll give you some peace of mind. I didn't start feeling him consistently until 22 weeks. So it takes some time
  • Started at 18wks n feel her every day but more active some days than others. Usually most active in the evening.

I started to feel flutters at 16 weeks then by 20 weeks I was feeling actual kicks. Im 26 weeks now and van see the kicks through my belly. It may be that's your placenta us cushioning the kicks? I feel mine often various times in the day. My ob told me if I don't feel a single kick in a 4 hour period of time then I should go to the hospital.
  • I'm a day away from 15w and could have swore I felt a blip of movement yesterday, but as this is my first child I can't be 100% sure till I rly start feeling more movements, but it was definitely different than anything I've felt before :)
  • Pregnant with my third boy, and this time around I felt him move little by little starting around 13-14 weeks!!! (no it was not gas, I can definitely tell a difference between a baby in my uterus and gas lol..) Anyways in the beginning it would come and go, I would feel probably a flutter a day or every other day. Even at 16 and 17 weeks I would feel the baby move for little periods of time then stop for a day or two, which is normal because of their position or your position. They usually like to move when you stop moving because you aren't rocking the to sleep with your movements. I am now 19 weeks today, and at 18 weeks I felt him move EVERY day nonstop. I feel him move all the time now! Yesterday it felt like he was doing flips in my belly...  :)  With my first son I felt him move around 16 weeks, can't quite remember when I felt my second son move..  Probably around 15-17 weeks.
I love the fact he moves more because I would freak when I would go days with no movement, especially because I was diagnosed with a retroplacental hematoma. I worried so much but now I feel him move constantly I don't freak out! haha.

  • I started feeling flutters at just past 18 weeks which I have felt basically daily, but only when I'm paying attention. At 19/2 I felt my first definite kicks after feeling baby roll it's way into the most uncomfortable positions all day. I didn't feel any kicks the next day, a small one the day after and a few more since. The flutters are consistent but the kicks aren't so much.

  • I felt a big roll at about 18 weeks, then little flutters here and there, sometimes with a week or so in between feeling movement. I didn't start feeling consistent movement (meaning I felt him at least once or twice a day) until about 24 weeks.

  • I'm 23 weeks & 4 days & my baby's kicks are still inconsistent lol it's perfectly normal, bub is to small to feel all the time :) I started feeling them at roughly 17 weeks. Now occasionally there huge kicks that make Mr jump and sometimes there tiny and I have to really focus on them the other week I went 4 days feeling nothing and now there back haha :)! Don't stress about kicks till 28 weeks hun :)
  • I'm 13 weeks. Nothing yet. She booted me hard during my last Doppler. I heard it but felt nothing.
  • That's normal, I felt little vibrations around 16 weeks, felt kicks at around 18 weeks but it wasn't really consistent till about 20w5d when my bf was able to feel them, I'm 22 weeks today and he is moving and kicking like crazy !

They likely won't be consistent for quite a while after you first start to feel them.
