High-Risk Pregnancy

Pregnant after high risk pregnancy - Any experience?

Hi everyone, I'm 6 weeks along with my third pregnancy. My first baby was born unexpectedly at 33 weeks; no reason why. With my second pregnancy I started labor (for no reason despite progesterone shots) at 28 weeks but they stopped it, then I got to spend the next 9 weeks on strict bed rest. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with pregnancy after high risk. I'd love to hear your stories!

My first pregnancy was twin boys born at 24 weeks without any explanation. They are almost six years old now and perfectly healthy in every way! I'm now pregnant with a little girl due in August. So far, I've made it almost 7 weeks longer than I did with the boys. I'm taking the Makena progesterone shot weekly and I had internal ultrasounds every two weeks from 14 to 24 weeks. After 24 weeks, my doctor said we would just go based on symptoms. So far the only complication I've had has been being diagnosed with gestational diabetes, which hasn't been hard to deal with at all. I don't know if it is the Makena shot that is working this time or what, but I would do them again in a heartbeat. I hate that they didn't work as well for you. I'm glad they were able to stop your labor, though. They couldn't stop mine, despite being on magnesium and hospital bed rest for 5 days prior to delivering my boys. In fact, I was still being given the magnesium as I was pushing with them. I feel extremely blessed to have my boys, and even more blessed that this pregnancy is going so well! I was very paranoid in the beginning with this little one, just because of my history, but I've really relaxed a ton since I made it past the 24 week mark.
