Possibly Preeclampsia

I am currently 37 Wks. Went to my appt on Monday, my BP was high. Baby was doing ok, no other symptoms like headache or vision changes. Doctor wants me to come back tomorrow to recheck BP & do labs. Getting nervous about preeclampsia... I have horrible swelling in hands & feet. Anyone had this?? Did your doc induce early? I guess I'm thankful I'm at least 37weeks! Thanks In advance.

Re: Possibly Preeclampsia

  • I had it with my last pregnancy and was induced at 37 weeks exactly. My doctor just hospitalized me (for 3 days) until I was exactly 37 weeks. At 37 weeks your baby is considered full term and should be fine. My daughter born at 37 weeks was perfect.

  • I was induced early due to preeclampsia went in to my weekly appointment and was having contractions, high BP, and protien in urine so was sent to hospital. I was in there for 3 days 1 to ripen cervix (I say was the worse part because I was not allowed out of bed for 90 percent of the day and you may or may not need this), the next i was induced and gave birth sortly after , and the last was recovery. I was worried the whole time about needing a C Section but was able to give birth naturally with epidural. Baby girl came out perfect no health problems she was born at 37 and 4 days 7 pounds 6 oz and 19.5 long. Just remember if you are induced early it is the best for you want the baby and 37 is full term most babies born at and over are perfectly healthy.
  • I started having flashing in my vision on my due date so my obgyn told me to go to labor and delivery to get checked out! After 3 hours of testing everything came back normal and I was sent home! But I asked what would happen if they found I did have preeclampsia and they said they would induce me... Don't worry too much, you are full term!
  • I had a c section at 36 weeks for atypical preeclampsia and low amniotic fluid. My ob said had it just been the preeclampsia we would have waited and done the c section (breech baby) at 37 weeks.
  • I had a c section 4 weeks ago to deliver my twins because I developed preeclampsia. My blood pressure was high for a few weeks and on the day of the section there was protein in my urine, my feet and hands were very swollen. I was 36 weeks. C section was great and very calm and my blood pressure went back to normal at about 2 weeks post partum.
