What's your favorite body lotion?

Alright ladies, here is my problem. I need a body lotion, stat. So far, I've only tried St. Ives and it didn't do much for me. I used to work at The Body Shop so I have a surplus of body butter I accumulated while working there. I like it, but the scent makes my pregnancy nose sad. I then tried coconut oil, and I really liked it until my husband asked why I "smelled like popcorn" and nicely asked me today if I "needed any lotion from the store." Thanks babe. I got the hint. So, do you have any favorites that keep your skin hydrated? I'd rather not keep buying lotion only to not like it or find it doesn't work. I looked through Google, but found a lot of mixed reviews. So I decided to ask the lovely bunch of ladies whose opinion I trust so much!

Re: What's your favorite body lotion?

  • As far as everyday lotion I like good ole Palmer's cocoa butter. It smells good, relieves itching, and isn't greasy. As far as helping with stretch marks, I don't really know yet, but I still like it. For fancy fo fo lotion, I like Victoria's Secret Coconut Passion and Love Spell.

I love the new Vaseline intensive care lotion the purple one (not sure if they have other colors) but it smells amazing . I usually can't stand scented lotions but smells clean and very hydrating/moisturizing love this stuff. You have to try it! I rub it on my belly every night or Nivea is also my favorite.
  • Eucerin works well for me. I get the most hydrating one available because I am super dry and itchy all the time. It does help.
  • I really like Nivea. It is a bit greasy, but I've found that it does the best for our dry CO climate.
  • Aveeno is hands down my favorite body lotion, but I also like Jergens and Vaseline's Cocoa Butter one. I prefer fragrance free stuff though, and Aveeno hydrates wonderfully and has no irritating scent.
  • Palmers cocoa butter hands down. I also love anything jergens!

As a gift, I received products from the Honest Company (now available at Target). I got the face & body moisturizing lotion and the organic body oil. I have been LOVING them both! From the website:

It is perfect for all skin types, even sensitive, dry, and allergy-prone. Natural, hypoallergenic, ultra pure, pH balanced, biodegradable, non-toxic, plant-based, and Honestly free of silicones, parabens, phthalates, fragrances, dyes, formaldehyde, PEGs, and most common allergens.

I have been loving the body oil to soothe my itchy tummy and it doesn't leave any greasy residue. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any grossness on my clothes. Highly recommend their products!
  • L'occitane Shea Butter cream is amazing! It smells like a 5 star spa. Nothing else compares for me.
  • I have used Jergens Ultra Healing for years, I love it. Not a strong scent to me. I can't stand the smell of cocoa butter or bio oil.
  • Jergens Ultra Healing is amazing, especially on my feet!
  • Love aveeno- good for my sensitive skin - fragerance free which doesn't bother my allergies - very hydrating

  • Thanks for all the suggestions ladies! I'm going to pick up a couple of these and give them a try!
  • How funny that he thought the coconut oil smelled like popcorn!  I love coconut oil and my husband thinks I smell like Malibu rum.  :)
  • L'Occitane Body Butter is AMAZING.
Also Nivea Essentially Enriched Body Lotion for dry to very dry skin. It won't let me attach a picture but it's in a dark blue bottle...it is so rich. I rub it on my belly and all over every night.
  • @tarheelgirl8 I think I have the one that doesn't smell like anything and is used for cooking! I'm not sure because I took it from my dad and he used to have to eat it. But after he said that, I realized I kind of did smell like popcorn :( hahaha
  • I find that organic unfractioned coconut oil smells less strong than the kind more commonly used for cooking. Maybe try that with a drop or two of essential oil since you really liked it.

This!! Creme de la Corps or whatever it's called. It's amazing.
  • Aveeno is amazing! I love that it's unscented and I find that it really hydrates my skin specially my belly.
  • COCONUT OIL!! I am 30 weeks now and still no stretch marks and belly and body stay smooth!
  • Oh man you have got to use coconut oil! Oil has worked really well for me in keeping my belly moist compared with lotion, which seems to kind of dry up immediately after applying it. I use a generic fractionated coconut oil and a lavender stretchmark oil from motherhood interchangeably. 28.5 weeks and so far no stretchmarks. The coconut oil has no odor and the lavender oil smells heavenly. Like cupcakes and tea.
  • Anything from Lush is awesome! Sympathy for the Skin is my fave at the moment.
