So scared!!

DH and I have been TTC for 2 1/2 years. Finally got a positive! I'm about 5 weeks. However since it took so long to conceive I am so scared of having the big bad M-word. I don't go to the doctor until July 6th. I feel like I can't even enjoy this moment with a fear of getting my hopes up. Anyone else feel like this? Or am I just being dramatic?

Re: So scared!!

  • I felt the same way last time and feel that way this time too. It's normal to worry about things like this. Try to find a hobby to distract yourself in the mean time.

  • Hi there! My appt is on July 6th too and I feel the same way too, especially since I had an ep and a mc last year. I agree with ^^...I'm trying to keep myself distracted. Prayers and hugs!!
  • Totally normal :-) Its hard not to be scared especially after trying for so long. All you can do is tell yourself that today you are pregnant and try not to worry too much about tomorrow. Its mostly out of our control anyway.
  • It can be stressful---the only calm that I tried to have the first time around and even this second baby is that I am not bleeding---therefore my baby is ok. I know there are other things that can go wrong---but for me that rationale helped.

Try to not think about how far away your first appointment is and just enjoy life day by day. This is the hardest part to wait for in the pregnancy, I think.

Exactly this - just a note that one thing you can do is limit your caffeine intake (high levels in first tri are linked to miscarriages). I think the level was raised from 200 mg/day to 300 mg/day, but don't quote me on that. Other than avoiding obvious no-nos of course (smoking, drugs, alcohol).

  • Thanks ladies! Makes me feel better to know I can talk about my feelings and get support. Luckily DH is so positive too!
  • Now that you are pregnant just relax and enjoy it! My OB assured me that there isn't anything I can do aside from smoking and drug use that will compromise this baby.
So relax and feel free to get for this baby!
