Just curious if anyone else is taking Zoloft? Or similar SSRI? I've recently been suggested this as I have a very long history of depression and anxiety. Doctors feel this makes me more predisposed to postpartum depression...
They would start me at 25mg and increase doses weekly up to approx 200mg as they feel would be a therapeutic dose for my particular circumstances.
They are reassuring me that baby is now fully developed and won't be harmed by the medication. (25w 1d)
Does anyone have personal experience with this or another SSRI? Was baby effected by it all? Did it help your mood? Any major side effects?
Thank you.
Re: SSRI, Anyone?
Just curious about their use in pregnancy. Thanks
I think that the docs might be starting you know because it's considered a safer period since everything is developed but they will probably have you wean off by 36-37 weeks or so before delivery.
I agree with pp that therapy is a huge part of getting to a better place. Be very proactive!! And be vocal!! Tell anyone that will listen what you're feeling! Don't suffer in silence. My girls pediatrian was a huge advocate for me, he always made sure to start by finding out where I was with my mental and physical health. As moms it feels like we should have this whole thing down, we're woman, we were built for this! But the reality is that sometimes we may struggle, and that's okay!! Just get yourself the help you need. Baby needs a happy, healthy momma!!
Hope you all are well, and thanks again for responding. Very reassuring
