How many of you got it? Are you making your HB get it too? How about family? I got the vaccine but my husband hasn't yet not my family, I'm wondering if I should have them get it.
I got it, my husband got it and anyone who wants to hold my baby will get it. My little sister works at a children's hospital and the last few years they have seen several cases, which ended in the infant dying because of it. Not worth the risk!
I got mine, hubby got his, both sets of our parents have gotten theirs, and my aunt who will be around baby a lot. My doctor suggested anyone who will be caring for baby or around baby a lot. So that's what we did. Everyone was up to date but got the boosters anyway.
My husband can't get the vaccine because he is allergic and I will get mine after the baby comes incase our little guy is allergic too. (That's what my Dr recommend)
DH is up to date thanks military, my boys are utd as well, I have not received it and still debating as not one dr I've seen for any pregnancy has ever recommended it to me. My family lives 4,000 away and to be honest wouldn't make them if they were closer.

My husband and I will both get it once baby is born. My Dr does not give it while pregnant. My family is also all getting updated shots even though they are all within the 10year frame, the dr still recommended they get it again.
I want to get it! No one else in my family thinks they need it.. (Except my children of course) but it drives me insane when people are coughing in the house.. Like wth do you have? My neighbor brought her son over one day and he was playing with the girls for over an hour.. And she's like.. Oh.. He has croup..... Thanks! Well turns out it's not contagious, so no big deal.. But I'm overly paranoid about my kids health!
I got it, so did dh and my mum. We have told everyone who wishes to be close to the baby they must have it...we feel it's better to be safe and have found everyone has been really good about it..probably a question for the doctor but up to how old for baby is it important for ppl to be vaccinated? We will be making a trip half way across the world when he is 3months..
I'm wondering the same thing. We're going on a family reunion trip when she's a few months, and I have family who are anti-vax so I know they won't get it done anyway.
My DH & I both got it, my parents did too. But my DH's family hasn't. It is a very touchy subject between us. I say they shouldn't visit if they don't get it, but he doesn't feel as strongly about it. He got aggravated with me when I approached the subject with his mom, to make sure she understood that everyone she is bringing with her to visit had to get the shot (except her 80+ yr old mom). I think it is fairly cheap to get at the local drugstore, isn't it? And his dad & step-mom, don't seem to think they need to get it. It's very frustrating to me.
I have it, DH is getting it, and my parents have it. DH's family got boosters last year when my nephew was born, so I am not asking them to get it again.
ETA that my mom is a pulmonary nurse, so she is at a higher risk of coming into contact with whooping cough, so it was definitely a no-brainer to ask her to get it done.
I got mine a few weeks ago. Doc said it's recommended for every pregnancy now since we can pass on some immunity to baby. Husband had his 6 yrs ago and doc says they recommend a booster every 5 years so he got it a few weeks ago as well. Grandparents and aunts/uncles are all up to date since we've had a slew of new babies in the family the last couple of years
ashleeroy24 -Im not 100% sure but I think you can get it at a walk in clinic (ie Xpress care center), or possibly a drug store. I would just call to check.
DH and I are both up-to-date and before DD was born we asked that our parents and siblings get it, which they did. I did not get it this pregnancy, though I understand that is the recommendation. Anything that's relatively new makes me a little nervous and the recommendation to give it to pregnant women is new. I will be BFing so hopefully that offers some protection until baby can get it at 2 months.
My DH is up to date (per his physician). Does he need another?? His physician knows I'm pregnant...
I would double check that he had the pertussis portion within the last 3-5 years (have heard both time frames from medical professionals). My father in law was told he was current but when he went back and inquired specifically about he pertussis portion, not just the tetanus he hadn't had that, was current for only the tetanus. Also tetanus can be considered current for up to 10 years so they may be "current " but if over the 3-5 year make would still recommend getting it again.
I got mine last week; husband is getting his next week along with my parents once they come back from Germany, plus his mom. Basically I'm asking anyone who will have extended contact with the baby to get one. They should be free through your insurance as just a regular vaccine/booster from your doctor, or they are available at Walgreens/CVS.
