At my 23 week appointment I measured 28 weeks. Today at my 27 week I measured 32 weeks. Doc now says I need a growth scan ultrasound. Anyone else have huge babies or measure big and their babies were normal size?
I measured slightly large today but she didn't mention it in weeks. She said I was measuring about 1cm large. Wondering what that might equate to in weeks? Hmm.. anyhow, do you have gestational diabetes or any glucose issues? That usually causes larger babies and increased/quicker growth in them. Sounds like you're measuring way ahead though which seems strange even for a big baby.
I measured the same exact as you. Had a scan on Friday. Baby boy is measuring 2 weeks ahead by ultrasound. Doctor said he isn't worried about it right now and will only become an issue later on. He said i need a repeat scan in a few weeks.
They always told me that the belly measurements should equal your weeks. Therefore if you are 28 cm then you are measuring 28 weeks. Hope that helps.. at my growth scan my baby was measuring 1.5 weeks ahead and doc told me to lay off carbs for a bit. I did have GD with my last pregnancy and baby always measured big. I'm not a fan of the idea of a c-section but if its due to a big baby I'll take it! I like big babies, makes them seem less fragile for some reason (to me anyway). So don't worry, your belly could just be growing faster than baby to allow him/her the space they need when they need it. I get the "are you sure there's not 2 or 3 in there" comments all the time so I know my belly must be big!
I measured big and had extra scans my first pregnancy. I had a big baby BUT she was 2 weeks late. 9 lbs 10 oz. but I still delivered her med free. I wouldn't worry about it. My thoughts were if she had of been on time she would have been in the 8-8.5 lb range probably
My midwife measured me pretty big (I forget the exact numbers but I was 24 weeks and she measured me at around 30 weeks) and I had an additional ultrasound too.
They measured the baby (he was a little big but within normal range, and his weight was 45th percentile), and they measured the uterus and the amniotic fluid, because that can also make you measure big (both were normal for me). I do have small fibroids - the doctors aren't concerned about them, but I do think they might be contributing to the position of my uterus, which is making me measure big. I haven't had the glucose test yet (doing it tomorrow) but because everything else was normal, they don't have any reason to suspect diabetes. So right now it seems I am just carrying very high! I've heard that just happens some times, and it can change with each pregnancy too.
I have growth scans done every 4 weeks due to blood pressure issues and baby girl is measuring big and I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead. All they keep thinking is I have gestational diabetes because I guess with that you can have large babies is what I'm being told.
Okay so when I did my anatomy scan I was told baby girl was measuring almost two weeks behind. So we moved my EDD back to mid-Sept, instead of early Sept.
So this week at my appointment, with the new EDD I'm 26 weeks, and I'm measuring 29. I would be 28 weeks if we didn't change my EDD (if you can see my ticker it's still based on my original EDD because I'm always on the app, not the computer) so it wouldn't be as big a deal. But with her measuring small and now me measuring three weeks ahead - it's super weird!
I'm getting my glucose tested next month but no growth scan was recommended yet. And I'm pretty confident there's only one baby. For measuring big I don't feel that I look bigger than I should (like I mean I don't look like it is twins and I'm SHORT so I get huge regardless).
Thanks ladies. Just had my glucose test no GD for me yay! And I've only gained 12 pounds and no weight gain in the last three weeks but I look as big now as I did full term with my first. I guess you can never be 100% sure on twins but the first two ultrasounds only showed one, most days it sure feels like there's two in there. Or an octopus.
My first baby (boy) measured big the second half of my pregnancy. I was convinced to have a c-section due to suspected macrosomia and CPD. At 39 weeks he was only 8lb 3oz. So don't let it get you too nervous. The ultrasounds as well as the fundal height measurements are not 100% accurate! I also am 5'4" and I always carry in front with a posterior placenta which my OB now tells me pushes out the uterus causing the fundal height measurement to always be on the larger side. This is my third pregnancy and I am certain I will hear the "measuring big" again but its a subsequent pregnancy and I know the baby size is not necessary as big as it might seem.
My fundal measurement was about 4 weeks ahead at my last appointment. The OB ordered an ultrasound to check baby and amniotic fluid. Both measured exactly where they should. Who knows, some people just carry a baby differently. At least I got to see my baby girl an extra time!!
Well I had my ultrasound. She's in the 82 percentile and they measured her about a week ahead but nothing too significant. They're keeping my due date. But I got to see her again and they did a bunch of 3D images which was fun, she just wouldn't move her hand. They also said she has a ton of hair already. That was neat to see.
