Pain, numbness and doctor says its normal.

Hey ladies,I'm 33+2 weeks and my baby girl is breech, head up hands up and folded in half so feet are up, all under my rib cage. It's to the point I can't sleep at night and my skin all under my boobs is numb, the doctor says this is normal and probably won't go away until baby is born or flips into another position, if she does. The pain is so unbearable some nights that it bring me to tears, and at most I get about an hours sleep at night which is difficult when I work full time. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if there's anything you find that alleviates the pain. The only thing I find that helps is just constantly changing positions and pressure on my ribs ( of course not too much) I've also noticed when the pain is really really bad that my heart rate goes up. I'v considered going to the hospital a few times cause the pain is just so bad but everytime I see my doctor she keeps saying its normal. :(

I wouldn't go to the hospital just for the pain - if it's caused by crowding, there's nothing they can do until the baby is born, so it would just be a waste of time and money.

My bubs is not much better about this. He'll shove himself up in my ribs and it feels terrible. I feel like I should have bruises all under my breasts because of how much it hurts sometimes. Eventually he'll move and it alleviates the pain. I've also found that Tylenol, an ice pack, or a heating pad right up under my breasts helps a lot. Sleeping is touch and go...most nights I can't sleep on my left side because that's when he wedges himself up in there, but if I am on my right, on my back with my legs elevated, or in the recliner it feels a little bit better.

    Edited because words are hard.

  • I have been sleeping in a recliner and on my couch for the same reason. My doctor says it's typical too. I wish he would listen and move but no luck. Try to practice good deep breaths when the pain is really (you'll be using it sooon anyway)
  • Ohhhhh honey I feel for you. I'm in the same boat. I've cried many times in pain. I also have a short frame. I'm 4'11 and I have excess amniotic fluid that's causing me to be a lot bigger than I should be as well. I'm so uncomfortable and Dr doesn't seem to be concerned. Its frustrating. Hang in there
  • Thanks ladies, I'll try the cold/heat packs and see if that helps any. Wish I had a nice recliner to lay in!! I bet that would help! I'm hoping she moves soon so that it allivates some pain as I still have a fair bit to go. I'm laying in bed now and it's sooo ouchy :(
  • I have the same problem I'm 33w 3d and she is breech at this point but her feet are down where her head should be... -__- so she constantly putting pressure down there!! And her head is right under my ribs. I work at a call center and today I was on a call she elbowed me so hard the lady on the phone asked if I was okay because I sounded in pain. Lol I laughed and said yes I meant to mute myself but I guess I kinda like grunted. :/
  • My little one is always in my ribs. It kills. But if you use an ice pack where the baby is. MOST babies will avoid the cold. It worked for me. I put the ice under my boob (so cold) and he moved away from it.
