12 weeks and no weight gain/still sick

I'm just about to hit the 3 month mark and I still haven't gained any weight. Before I left for my trip I went in to the doctors and I had lost a total of 13 pounds. My sickness is still in full effect and the only thing I can seem to keep down well is the blue otter pops...but it's not enough to keep me from feeling weak and light headed on a daily basis. What should I do? The last thing my doctor tried before I left was suppositories but they didn't help, only made me extremely tired. I'm trying to see the light at the end of the road but I don't feel like this is going to end anytime soon =\

Hey there! Don't feel bad, you're not alone. I've lost over 25 lbs and I'm still losing be at 14 weeks. I do have to say it plateaued at 13 weeks for me but it's not gone. I'm not eating much, I've found that Doing a mostly liquid diet helps me get in more calories. I had an apt on Monday and asked the doctor about still losing weight, she said at this point baby is taking whatever they need. She said I just need to do what works for me and try to keep doing what works. I went through a vinalla pudding phase and now I literally drink my calories- I've started drinking boost nutritional drinks to help balance me out. I was prescribed Zofran for my nausea around week 10, that helped a lot but now I'm taking it less. But good luck!! And stay strong, I still feel super miserable and to be honest standing in the shower gets me tired but baby is getting what they need and for me that's exactly what I needed to hear.

  • So sorry for how you are feeling :( I don't have advice for your sickness or gaining weight but I can reassure you that my doctor said you don't need to worry about weight gain until later in pregnancy. As a previous poster wrote, the baby will get what it needs for now, don't stress. Best wishes xoxo

So sorry you're so miserable!!! I feel for you mama. May I suggest instead of otter pops, they have have similar Popsicles called Pedialyte Popsicles. They look identical to otter pops except they're electrolyte solution. You get them in the baby aisle. When I was sick I ate those so I could stay hydrated.

I really hope you get some relief soon!! Best wishes!

  • Have you tried drinking a smoothie? On mornings when nothing sounds good, I find a smoothie really hits the spot. Blueberry pineapple is delicious as is mango banana. I hope you feel better soon!
  • Have you tried diclegis? It's the same as unisom and B6. I lost weight as well but now the meds have helped with the vomiting and I'm putting on weight. Good luck!!
  • Thanks ladies! I've tried basically every oral medicine my doctor has recommended, nothing works. It sucks because I know the vomiting is going to happen every day, so either I eat and throw up or I don't eat and throw up because my stomach is so empty =\ @Jazmine928 tried that, made it worse actually, although I've heard it works wonders for others.
@Marchmellow2 I've heard of the pedialyte pops but was told they were a bit pricy so I opted for the otter pops, but I'm sure the pedialyte pops are probably a better option to keep me hydrated.
Yesterday I was able to eat some yogurt and boy was it the absolute worst to come back up...it was like spoiled milk :-& I'm almost afraid to try new things
  • I've had to stay away from all diary. Some days all I get is coconut water in me but keeps me hydrated. I'm 14w 5d Usually a piece of toast or a plain waffle has been ok.... But I'm down 14lbs
My best time is around 11-2 that's it :(
There are days when I'm craving a salad so bad I eat it just to know its coming back up
    Best of luck
  • @giftology1 I feel ya! My worst time is at night at the same time but yesterday it hit me smack in the middle of the day, wasn't expecting it.
But I totally forgot I actually can hold down raisin bread toasted with a bit a butter! It was really the only thing I ate while on vacation. I need to go buy some so I at least have something to nibble on throughout the day
