Heartburn

Any amazing heartburn relief tricks? I've tried everything- tums, zantac, and even a prescription OB wrote me, but nothing works! I'm pretty miserable!

Re: Heartburn

  • The only thing that has helped a little in addition to the prescription my doc wrote me, is propping myself up to sleep and trying to eat throughout the day instead of 3 meals. Also trying not to eat any later than 7:30pm

Ahh, I try those all! I do eat after 7pm because I try to eat about every two or so hours. There's no rhyme or reason, I can't find any triggers. I can eat the most bland food or the most acidic and have the same heartburn! I never lay down after eating, I just don't kneo what to do! ~X(

For me, it's protonix plus tums when needed or milk, plus sleeping in an elevated position and not eating anytime near bedtime. I used to get a lot of my water intake with sips of water throughout the night but I can't do that anymore bc I can't lay back down after just a sip of water. It's crazy.

I am in the same boat - I am in tears in the middle of the night for heartburn and feel like my esophagus is bleeding during the day because my heartburn is so bad. I've tried the TUMS, and am taking Zantac with minimal relief. Milk helps.. but ice cream is the devil! it makes it so much worse.

  • I take B-6, which helps a little.  There are some nights and days that it's just horrible and nothing helps.  Hope you find relief soon!
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • I've found almonds work well too.
  • Apple cider vinegar
This has helped me a ton as well.

  • How much do you drink in a day?  I'm desperate and will try anything!

GAVISCON!! It is a miracle. I'm on my 3rd bottle of it. I use the cherry flavored chewables. Nothing else worked. Tums was a total waste. I swear by Gaviscon. I should be a commercial for them. But seriously, my heartburn was so bad I would be up for hours during the night just walking around trying not to feel awful. And then my husband's Mom who is a nurse suggested I try this and it has worked wonders.
  • I actually only take two sips of the apple cider when I'm experiencing the heart burn
  • I had read that watermelon helps, but (knock on wood) my reflux has calmed down since I bought some. But my plan for if it comes back is to eat some a couple of hours before bed and nothing else.
  • 1/2 a unisom and a b6 works at night for me.
  • Elevate your upper body and try some milk, chocolate milk, or ice cream.
