Worried

edited June 2015 in February 2016 Moms
My first son was born in Dec. of 2012 vaginally. My 2nd son was born this past October via C-Section.

It has only been 7 months since my C-Section, and I'm worried about that being a risk to this baby.

Anyone else pregnant so soon after a C/S? I'm so scared to hear what my doctor will say. I'm also curious if I will be able to have a VBAC. I'll be able to ask all these things at my appointment next week, but I just want to see if anyone here is in a similar boat!

Re: Worried

  • Hi there! I know most doctors advise waiting a year between pregnancies if you'd had a c-section, but it definitely happens. As for a VBAC - it would depend on your doctor's specific rules for allowing VBACs. My guess is that you won't be eligible (but hey, I could be wrong!) as most doctors require 18 months or more between a c-section and a VBAC delivery. Regardless, it's definitely something you'll want to discuss with your doctor. Good luck!

Not in the same boat. But after my c section with DS my ob told me I could need to wait fifteen months between if I wanted to try a vbac. It's definitely going to depend on your ob. I know some don't allow them at all. I would recommend calling your dr office and asking what there policy is on a vnac.
  • I'm 20 months out from my C, but my midwife did tell me it was ideal to wait a year after, and for a VBAC it needed to be 18 months. :/ So maybe just start preparing yourself for a RCS?

  • I had got pregnant with my 2nd within 8-10 weeks of the c/s with my 1st. My pregnancy was normal. I will say that my OB said my scar area was very thin and I had a tiny tear along the inside. But it was no big deal at all.

  • Not in the same boat, but my friend got pregnant 4 months after her c-section. She had a successful VBAC, but she really had to shop around for a medical professional willing to try (I say medical professional because she ended up finding a midwife).
