Glucose test breakfast?

I have my 1-hr test in the morning. I don't have to fast, but my OB said to eat something low-sugar, high-protein. I'm not feeling eggs these days. Other ideas?

Re: Glucose test breakfast?

  • I had sausage and passed my test with flying colors!

  • You could try string cheese and almonds. Not super "breakfast-y" but could work.

  • How many hours will you have between eating and the test? I was told I could eat before and I think I ate an hour and a half before the test and I failed it. I'm pretty sure that's why. Last pregnancy I passed but had a few more hours between. Sausage seems like a good idea. Maybe you can make a breakfast scramble with eggs, sausage, and potato? You can get in some eggs without it being so egg-y.
  • I hate eggs but stomached them with ketchup and cheese. Well I ate maybe half lol. I suggest some sort of nuts and cheese also.
  • Don't have toast.

  • Cottage cheese, plain Greek yogurt, ricotta cheese, Turkey or ham with cheese, sausage with cheese.
  • I think it'll be better to fast my ob told me to not eat an hour before then a few days later just said to go first thing in the morning, so basically fasting and my test came back good . I passed . When I was so sure of not passing with how bad I been eating.
  • Waiting on my results...

With DS all I ate was almonds and I failed. So I didn't worry about it much this time.

Any meat, dairy, nuts/beans have protein.

I forced some eggs this time then went to lunch after. Much easier to me.

  • I had a boiled egg, bacon, and plain wheat toast 2 hours before my test. I passed.
  • I just ate after it was over.

  • I was told to eat a light protein breakfast because otherwise the drink could possibly make you feel crappy. I ate about 2 hours before my test and had 2 scramble egg whites and 1 scrambled egg yolk. I did not feel sick at all and did not get jittery whatsoever. I passed with flying colors :)
