Fruit comparisons make me giggle!

I love when my week changes and I get a new video and a new piece of fruit to compare the baby size. Last week the baby was a banana and around 6 inches. Today baby's a pomegranate and it says 10 inches. In what universe is a pomegranate close to 10 inches!?!? I guess it is more for the weight this week, but the diagram made me giggle!

  • Haha I know right? We are using the fruits in our week pictures and wanted to pick something other than the pomegranate but then I realized we'd run out of larger fruits! Must just be a weight thing now.
  • Before we knew we were having a boy, I would call him by the fruit/veggie comparison. My favorite one was onion. Haha
  • Fruit/veg can be so different in size, the comparisons are funny! I like the comparisons on Pregnant Chicken better since they compare to fixed-sized objects: Last week at 21 wks, size of the world's largest gummy bear!...mmmm...gummy bears...This week, lil' man is the length of a Barbie doll. :)

  • I also use the Ovia app. Their comparisons are even more bizarre! Bok choy, Belgian endive... where do they come up with this stuff??
  • Yeah, according to The Bump, this baby is basically a 1 foot diameter grapefruit.  That's one hell of a grapefruit.

  • I have two apps, the ovia and this one. Ovia had pomegranate weeks ago lol.
  • I thought the same thing when I saw the pomegranate last week! Haha!
  • Haha! Yep, a mango is 19 weeks here and 23 weeks on Baby Center. Kind of a crapshoot I think :)
  • There was actually a Wanda Sykes stand up routine where she jokes about how Americans can't handle getting medical diagnosis in actual sizes and measurements and that we need to use fruits to fully understand.  She talks about doc discovering a cyst that is 10cm and the pt. looks blank and not concerned, so the doc says.. "Its the size of a grapefruit!!"t and then the pt. flips out.  I thought of these baby fruit comparisons when I watched this again.
  • I was just thinking about this too! Literally yesturday!! I thought...how can u go from a bannana to a pomegranate..are we measuring fruit that is unpeeled and flattened?? So so funny...i started to just look at the size measurements and not the fruit. Except everytime i look at the fruit it looks soooo good and i want to eat it!
  • It gets really scary at the end when your baby is the size of a jackfruit! The thought of the enormous spiky fruit coming out of your body is terrifying!
