Feeling down...dont know why!

hey ladies, I just want to get some feedback. I will be 6 wks on thursday, I am excited about the baby but i am a first time mom. Very few people know about the pregancy just because we wanted to wait until I am furthur along. I dont know if it is the nerves, scared of the unknown or worrying that something may happen and I have all of that in mind :(  Any suggestions to ease the mind?

  • Your hormones are probably going a little crazy right now adjusting to the pregnancy. I think its totally normal to go through some ups and downs emotionally especially when you don't feel like you can talk about it with a lot of people. Try to do somethings that you know make you feels good. make a upbeat play list that you can listen to that you, get outside if its nice weather and go for a walk. Hang in there Mama!

  • Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. Great suggestions as well! I appreciate it :)

  • The first few weeks are always some of the hardest because you don't want the world to necessarily know. Talk with your partner more about how you are feeling---or if you have confided in a friend or family member. You can also start thinking about how you want to tell everyone. You will be further along before you know it!

  • I am on the same boat as you. This is my 3rd though, I am just a nervous wreck until viability with each pregnancy. One way that I have alleviated my concerns is, once I am at about 8 weeks and on, I listen to the heartbeat. I bought a fetal doppler on craigslist for $10. It is such peace of mind before you feel baby moving, and even after. :) Hope this helps.

  • I guess just having a fear that something will happen just sits in my mind. But, I cannot live in fear! I love the suggestions and the advise. Especially since this is all new!

  • I also felt myself feeling this way since I suffered a MC almost a year ago. Everything scares me and I'm afraid to be excited until my first appointment. What I keep telling myself is everything will be fine, and even if it's not I just trust God.
  • A mom in my april 13 mommas group, mentioned this to me today, when I was telling her pretty much what you said, and with my history of mc I'm super nervous.

Today you are pregnant, and you love your baby.

It helped me calm down a tiny bit....

Just know, we are here for you!
  • It's very normal to worry. For me I try not to think too much on the bad stuff that could happen and instead focus on the good things. I had to do the same with DS. Congrats to you!

  • I agree with the ladies above.

Is there anything you can do (a hobby, perhaps?) to get your mind off of it in the meantime?

  • I agree with what everyone has said, but just wanted to offer my support! This is my fifth pregnancy, but (hopefully) 3rd take home baby. It's hard to feel super confident thinking of all of the 'what ifs'. I had the same worries and concerns with my other two and it doesn't get easier. But like they said, focus on positive and don't worry unless there is reason (ie. spotting, severe cramping, etc).

  • I totally understand how you are feeling. I found out I was pregnant last Wednesday and after the excitement came the anxiety. It's hard to stay positive when you read so much stuff online and waiting for that first ultrasound is making each day feel so long (my first isn't until the 26th).

I feel more optimistic today. I went for a nice long walk on the weekend and it did wonders for my emotional state! I suggest daily walks to clear the mind and calm the nerves :)

I worried about everything with my first. Every pinch and cramp. It's normal. Just try to relax and enjoy the ride

Mom of one adorable little boy and excited to do this again.
