January 2016 Moms

Any January Mommy's to be in Toronto, Canada?

Hi ladies,

I am from Toronto and 8 weeks pregnant with my first baby :). I was hoping to set up a support group in the gta! Anyone interested?

Re: Any January Mommy's to be in Toronto, Canada?

  • Hello,
I'm not in Toronto but I'm 2 hours north inin Muskoka and 8.5 weeks along, but I would be in for this support group
  • I'm about an hour north of toronto! FTM! If you go into the main community board and go to "local" theres a toronto group. Given this threat will be better as we are all in the same month but the other is nice for general stuff. Not many people post to it though. Glad there are some of us on here! I'm also 8 weeks!

  • In the the Falls! 6 weeks and one day!
  • Exciting :)!! I was just in Newmarket this past weekend and am hoping to move that way before our little peanut makes his/her grand entrance :). Are you ladies finding out the gender of your baby?
  • We are! I'm too impatient to wait!!
  • York Region here :)

  • Downtown Toronto! 7 weeks 3 days - I'm in for a support group!
  • Not far! Mississauga.

And we are team grey so not finding out until the LO is born!
  • Out in Durham region! We'll be finding out the sex. DH is too excited to wait.

  • Formerly a downtown TO gal, just moved out to Peterborough last year. First baby, and hubby definitely wants to find out gender (I kinda do too for planning purposes but I don't want to tell anyone!) I'm in Toronto for work pretty often. Would love to join a group.
  • Brampton! I'm 8 weeks tomorrow! Excited to see so many local mama's with similar due dates! After all most of us are all within an hour of one another.

    I teach in York Region!

Hubby really wants to find out, I'm still on the fence, will probably do it for him. It would be nice for him to have some say in this whole crazy thing!

I teach in simcoe county :). Grade 4 this year, grade 6 next year
  • Ok ladies - is anyone up for Sunday brunch
once a month? I think it would be so super fun
:)! Or even dinner... I can make pretty much anyday work in the evenings and Saturday or Sunday breakfast or brunch is ok too :). If you want, message me your email address and we can coordinate that way ;). 9 weeks and 1 day today... Eeek! Has anyone tried the baking soda test? You put a little bit of baking soda in the bottom of a cup and add a little bit of your urine (I know, gross!!). If it fizzes it's supposedly a boy and if it stays flat it's supposedly a baby girl... Mine fizzed
    like crazy!

I have so many cute ideas for fun things to do in a support group :). A few of the friends my mom met 32 years ago in a little group she was a part of are still good friends with her and two of their daughters are my best friends in the whole world :).
  • Hamilton! 9 weeks with my second :-) we are definitely finding out the gender. A friend of mine found an ultrasound place that does elective gender reveals as early as 14 weeks. I'm totally doing it

That's awesome. I did 4/5 last year and 5/6 this year. Still not permanent, so I don't know what is in store for me for September.

    I'm teaching 5/6 next year!! I previously taught grades 2 & 3.
  • @BrieJolly - what is this elective gender
place called?? I wonder if they have one in Toronto... UC baby is a great place... Not
Sure how early they can check for gender though...

  • @andreachristine81 I'd be up for occasional brunch meet-ups!
  • @andreachristine81 it is called Peek a Boo I see u. I forgot to mention it is located in the falls. I think it is $45.00
  • @BrieJolly thanks :)! And @MeghanM0915 are you from Toronto? My 10 week ultrasound is Tuesday... So nervous! By this time they should be able to tell me for sure if the other twin is viable or if my twin pregnancy is now a singleton (suspected vanishing twin... We shall see). Tuesday can't get here soon enough!
  • @andreachristine81 Grew up in Ottawa, lived/worked in TO for six years.
Good luck at your ultrasound!! They booked my first one super early (5 weeks) so now they're saying my next one isn't til 20 weeks... I really want one sooner so I can know everything's ok. 9w2d today.

  • @MeghanM0915 - for $30 UC Baby (a hop, skip and a jump from sick kids hospital) they can do a heartbeat ultrasound and show you pictures (and print them for $5 each too!). I do not like my ultrasound tech and so I found this place and they are safe, friendly and amazing :). They are all over ON... You should definitely check them out! And I am 9 weeks and 3 days :)!

My friends here in brampton were talking about it as well. I think there are ones here in Peel region. I may look into it later, depending on what my midwife has in store for us. Next apt on July 8th at 12 weeks. So far no ultrasound.... Especially because we are not doing the Screening tests. She says there is no reason for a dating ultrasound as I am not unsure of my dates, but Id like to at least hear a heartbeat.

If you are just interested in hearing the heartbeat, you will get to hear it with your midwife. They will most likely use the Doppler.

Also, thanks for the positivity about the 5/6 split. It's always a little scary to start teaching a new grade that you've never done before and not to mention a split with 2 new grades!
  • Thanks all for the advice re: US. I saw my doctor last week (at 10w) and when I explained my anxiety over being so far along without having heard a heartbeat or seen the baby's progress, she booked me another US for this past week. No hassle at all, and it was fantastic to see the baby wiggling around! I feel so much more confident now.
