Second or more-time mama's---does this one feel easier?

I know that everyone always says that every pregnancy feels differently---but I was just curious if this pregnancy already felt easier than the first one (or more) that you have had in the past. I am only almost 5 weeks ago and already don't have the nausea and extreme pain in my boobs that I had with my son last time. I also know that it is early on---I have many more weeks to go and might have symptoms later. Just wondering how other second-time mamas are feeling. Or is it just easier because we know more of what to expect?

Re: Second or more-time mama's---does this one feel easier?

  • Nope. This one is already worse for me at about 5 weeks. By worse, I guess I mean the severity of the symptoms. It is nice that I do have some prior knowledge as to what this is going to be like. Kind of. It's not super helpful when I'm crampy, getting up in the middle of the night to pee, throwing up and can't get my jeans on.

  • My chiropractor just told me today the second or more is usually easier. I still think it's too soon to tell but I don't have sore boobs like last time and no nausea yet either.

  • It's barely into the second month, I can't make that determination get. My anxiety is high from our loss. It's nice not having much morning sickness yet but that's about it so far. Ask again in a few months, lol.

  • still too early to tell as I didn't get morning sickness until 6-7 weeks with #1
  • Too early for me, too. I hope it's easier, because I can't imagine being sicker AND chasing a toddler around :(

  • I have zero symptoms. So I would say it's "easier" on my body right now, but not on my brain. I am so worried that no symptoms=loss.

  • Not easier, just different. I had a difficult first pregnancy, and then a loss. I'm super anxious about this pregnancy, and am also way more bloated/hormonal/tired/etc than I remember being the first time. I'd like an "easy" pregnancy this time, please!

I had a really easy pregnancy the first time. This one has followed suit so far. But I'm only 5 weeks in. I have my fingers crossed that this one mirrors the last one!
  • so far the same as the others.  I usually don't get symptoms etc til 6 weeks, and have had fairly easy pregnancies.
  • I would say this one is a bit harder then the first because I already feel pregnant because I'm bloated and have started the mornkng sickness already! It's also harder because I'm tired but have two toddlers to chase around and can't sleep whenever I want. We'll see in a few months though how different this pregnancy will be from my first because I carried twins last time! And I'm assuming there's only one in there this time ha!

  • It is too early to tell for me. I might be a little more tired but I'm tired a lot with a two year old. My last pregnancy wasn't bad until the last two weeks so I would be fine with the same experience.

  • Pregnancy?  Yes.  But weirdly, I am way more anxious about labor this time because 1) I have had two totally different labor experiences 2) I am hoping for a VBAC and 3) I KNOW what things have gone well/poorly in the past for me.

Boo! They need to just give me a chill pill as soon as labor starts.

  • So far, it is the same.

  • I'm going to say harder. I'm already having headaches and I don't remember feeling this run down with DS this soon.

  • Last time: Morning sickness starting around 6 weeks, lasted about 10-11 weeks. Sore boobs. Tons of swelling and heartburn in 3rd tri.

This time: Nauseous from day 1 that eased up at the end of last week, comes and goes now. Reeeeally swollen, sore boobs (much worse). Lots of twinges and pulling, mild stretching/cramping, back pain (from sleeping position, I think)...and fatigue. Also, mega bloat already. I woke up this morning and thought how I could have a nap while DH takes DD to karate at 5 tonight.

I wouldn't say one's easier than the other so far. Just different. I don't remember any of the stretching feeling last time, which is kind of comforting actually. If I could get away with no full-blown nausea or heartburn this time, that would be awesome.

Last time I was terribly crampy/gassy if any food entered my body, and that hadn't happened this time. Recently I've been really tired, but I was like that last time too. Meat sounds repulsive, but again that is how I felt last time. No big differences here, but last time wasn't bad either.

  • I'm not sure what to expect this time. My first pregnancy (DS) was super uneventful and easy. My second (DD) was terrible and I was sick for 9 months. I already feel nauseous so I'm concerned this my be a repeat of my last pregnancy. I guess we'll see.

  • I think it's too early to tell.  Like some PPs have said - I didn't get many symptoms beyond cramping until more like 6 weeks.  The cramping has been a bit better than last time, but again, too early to say!  I can only hope it'll be easier!

  • I think easier in maybe term of what to expect, but much harder since I have a busy toddler to chase. I really wanted a nap when I came home from work today, but that just couldn't happen. I really had a great first pregnancy, and am hoping this one goes great. I'm way more anxious since I had a loss last year, so I think once I have ultrasound confirmation I'll feel a little better.
  • I'm not certain of my due date yet but I know with DS, the "morning sickness" (that lasted all day) didn't hit until around 7-8 weeks. Up to then, I didn't have any major symptoms that I remember. This time, I'm really tired most of the time, but I'm also dealing with insomnia. Still remains to be seen if I'll be spending as much time puking as the last time.
  • I am super early, per LMP date I would be 4 weeks tomorrow… The only symptoms I am having is fatigue, my boobs are starting to get sore and light cramps/RLP. That is about the same as the first 2 pregnancy (not including miscarriages). I would have to say this may be a little tougher because I have a very active toddler to run after and a baseball all star to run all over town (the hubs helps too of course) I never had morning sickness and hopefully it will stay that way. I aint got time for that! :)

  • Everyone in my house is sick so right now it just feels really hard. I'm so tired and I want heavy duty meds that I can't have. We will see how it goes but I know in the past my nausea didn't kick in until 7 or 8 weeks.
  • Yes and no. On the one hand my symptoms are worse this time around and it's harder to catch up on rest. On the other hand I know what to expect and I'm a lot less anxious this time around.

  • Still too early to tell for me. I'm really tired but this is baby #4 and with 3 kids running around I'm always tired. :) Baby #3 was super easy and my best delivery so I"m keeping my fingers crossed this one will be too. I think always having an idea about what to expect even though every pregnancy is different helps a lot. The uncertainty and anxiousness of your first baby isn't there and you are more comfortable in your parenting style. :) Good luck to all mommies to be!
  • It's a little early to tell. I thought I was going to get away without any morning sickness which would have been nice because with my sons I was sick the whole pregnancy. That's not the case though as it just started up a few days ago. I've also been sooooo tired, but with two little dudes at home (and sometimes their sister), I don't really get the chance to catch up on rest. We'll see as things move on, but for right now I'd say that because of being so tired it might be harder.
