What are some of the movies from your childhood that you can't wait to experience with your little one? For me, anything Disney, but also Flight of the Navigator, E.T., Goonies, Home Alone....
DD1 has just recently started getting into Disney princesses so it's been a blast reading all those stories and watching some of the movies. I'm still a bit protective of what she sees so I end up fast forwarding through some parts, but it's still been fun.
I can't wait to watch The Goonies, Mighty Ducks, Home Alone, The Little Princess, and Santa Clause.
I'm a total weirdo but Jurassic Park, Star Wars, lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter (books and movies). I obviously have to wait much longer for these than the Disney movies, but for me these movies and books opened up a whole new world of imagination and creativity.
I'm gonna be the wacko here, but I can't wait to watch Beetlejuice with her. You know, when she is old enough to not be super creeped out and traumatized by it. It's still my favorite movie. Also, The Little Mermaid and Space Jam. I won't lie to you all, I still watch Space Jam regularly. I bought the DVD for $4 and DH found it and gave me this "Aren't you a little old for that?" look :-/
And lastly, even though this isn't a movie, we will be introducing her to "I Love Lucy" once she is old enough to enjoy it. We actually named her after Lucille Ball's character in the show. What a bunch of nerds we are!
ET, Willy Wonka, Jurassic Park, Dumbo, Mighty Ducks, The Buttercream Gang, Wall E, Babysitters Club, The Lion King, Toy Story, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Little Rascals, The Land Before Time,
the list goes on.....so many good ones from the 90s! makes me so happy
This is actually one of my favorite things - watching a movie I love with my kids and experiencing it through their eyes! We probably have done some WAY too early (for example, showing my daughter The Sandlot when she was 3 - hmm weird that she's petrified of dogs).
Here are a few that have been a blast to watch together: Mighty Ducks, Annie, Willy Wonka, Home Alone, Princess Bride... I was actually shocked at how much my 3 and 5 year old loved Mighty Ducks! The older Disney classics are awesome too of course (Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Toy Story, Cinderella, etc). So many movies, so little time I also reallllly love Frozen so I'll watch that any time my kids want to, except that now my daughter wants to seriously wear headphones when we watch because she gets so annoyed with me singing along with the songs.
I agree on so many of these. I admit that I have bought some shows from childhood on DVD so that my DD can watch them one day. So far I have all of Duck Tales, Talespin and Rescue Rangers.
My daughter is obsessed with the Mighty Ducks trilogy. She also we loves all the Disney Princesses, Grease 1 and 2, The Sandlot and a whole bunch of other ones. We also have the original Looney Tunes on DVD.
All these different movies are bringing back some memories. I miss going to the video store with my family and picking up a new movie. I makes me sad that my kids won't ever get that kind of experience.
Oh I love this. People have said most of the Disney classics, but a few that my sister and I binge watched as children...Singin' in the Rain, Annie, Princess Bride, The Land Before Time. Also, apparently we knew most of the words to The Three Amigos, which seems mildly inappropriate. I assume we just didn't understand the jokes!
@kelseyrayay I can't wait for Finding Dory either!
Loved all the Disney movies, and Wizard of Oz. And when they get a little older, the holiday classics such as Hocus Pocus and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the animated version, I didn't care for the newer one).
All the classic Disney movies, Goonies for sure! Sandlot, mighty ducks, and for when they are way older some of my absolute favorite movies breakfast club, pretty in pink, 16 candles, weird science haha love them.. the family stone & fried green tomatoes!!! So maybe not all those for my little ones.. but hopefully when they are older they will watch some of my fave grown up movies
Ohhh! Hocus pocus, Beetlejuice, mrs.doubtfire & someone mentioned heavyweights.. lol I thought I was the only one who has seen that!
I'm really looking forward to watching all the Disney classics. I was also a huge dork over the Harry Potter series and I hope my girl loves to read like I did so she can enjoy them and watch the movies with me after! Also a huge sucker for The Land Before Time - I cry every time.
Pretty much all these! But, not gonna lie, I am super excited to introduce Star Trek to DD once she's old enough to appreciate it. Star Trek was one of those things that was always there for me as a kid (I was one of those nerds with no friends), and so I hope that the Star Trek series' and movies can be a little bit meaningful and important to her, too, if only just because she and I bonded over watching it together.
Anything Disney, Harry Potter, Princess Bride, Labrynth, Willow, and the original Muppet Movie. DH and I love movies, so I'm sure our little guy will see all of these and then some!

Heavyweights is another (older) kid favorite of mine
