I'm a FTM I'm curious when your period comes back. Im hoping not right away. I know everyone is different but I'm just curious. Going through 9 months of pregnancy then to go into a period doesn't sound like fun

If your BF it's going to vary but formula fed both mine and it was back for my 6 week apt both times.

It's different for everyone. Typically it takes longer to come back if you are breast feeding, but not always. My SIl BF and hers was back 6 weeks post partum, but my best friend, who also BF didn't get hers back for 23 months.

I haven't had a period since August of 2012 (when I got pregnant with my first son). He was born May 2013, and we breastfed until August 2014. I got pregnant sometime in October after that. So, in between being pregnant and breastfeeding, no periods for me. So pretty much as long as I was breastfeeding, I never got one.
It does vary with breastfeeding though, some people still get their periods back when they breastfeed. If your formula feeding, it will likely be around that 6 week pp mark.

My husband was just asking me about this after pointing out that if I wasn't pregnant it would be time for my period. Lol. I am hoping that I am lucky to have a good break thanks to breastfeeding

You'll bleed for about a month after you deliver regardless.

What!?! I was totally not expecting that! My mom told me it would be heavy at first then get lighter and would last 3 days to a week- she said it would be like a normal period.....better stock up on pads I guess...

Oh yes the bleeding after you deliver can last a while. Mine didn't get lighter until two weeks after and still lasted a few days longer.

I formula fed after not being able to produce breast milk and didn't get my PP period until 12 weeks.

I blead for 6 weeks post partum. I breastfed for 1 year and got my period back when DS was about 9months old. Yes stock up on heavy pads. Everyone is different in how much and how long they bleed after giving birth.

I bled for 6 weeks after each of deliveries ( one was bf one was formula) and then probably got a week or two off and started my period.

I bled for about 6 weeks pp. It got lighter towards the end. But it was nothing like my periods which were usually light and very short.

I heard six weeks was the norm for most people. I went to Costco and bought a box of depends because I cannot stand the big bulky pads!!!! I'm 36 weeks and getting my period back is one of the things I dread the most

I had a CS with my DS and bled for about 2 weeks post partum. But I heard its longer for vaginal deliveries, especially if their are Tares ect. And then my regular period came back about 4 weeks after that. I only breastfed for a month though so I'm sure it's different for everyone.

For me it takes dropping down to 2 nursing sessions a day, so 15.5 months pp with my first and 20.5 months pp with my second. Between pregnancy and BFing I've only had 6 periods in 5.5 yrs, it's been great!

With my first I breastfed him till he was 2.5 but my period returned when he was 9 mths. My second started using a pacifier so my period returned earlier at 5 mths of age

I BF for 8 months and didn't get my period until about 3 weeks after I stopped. I got occasional spotting a couple of times while BF, but not even enough to wear a pad.

I bled for about 6 weeks post pardum I breastfed my son until he was 11 months but I started weening him off at 10 so I got mines back when he was 10 months the whole time I was breastfeeding I never got it but like PP said it varies for wveryone

I only bled for about 2 weeks. Maybe even less. I do not get my period back until a month or 2 after i wean. So i have gone as long as 1.5 yrs without a period.

Hm... With my first. (Vaginal delivery) I bled for a little over 2 weeks.. Then i didn't for around 4 weeks. (And it was long) my second (c section) I bled for maybe 6 days.. Then it was about 6 weeks before I had a period again, and it lasted about 3 weeks. My doctor wanted to put me on some crazy med to stop my period but it finally stopped.. It balanced out soon after and then every one after it got back to normal was 3 days.. I hope it goes back to that!

I bled for 6 weeks after and had to wear 2 always night maxi pads at a time. I stopped bleeding for two days and came on a heavy period safe to say I was sick of blood and pads by the time my son was 2 months old xx

I bled for 6 weeks with my DD and then I stopped for a few days and it started back up again. My cycle just didn't want to return to normal so my OB put me on birth control pills for a few months to get everything back on schedule. Everyone is definitely different so don't be worried if you don't bleed as long or you go longer, just make sure you keep your doc in the loop and they'll make sure you get back to normal.

Did any of you start birth control, like the mini pill - ok to use while BFing - and still not get your period for that amount of time? @dominican22 @jessicabrennan21

I can't remember how long I bled after having DD, but I want to say it was 2-3 weeks. Then at 6weeks PP, I had Mirena inserted and didn't have a period until I took it out in March of 2014.

I used the mini pill and didn't get my period back the whole time I breastfed.

I bled for about 2 weeks postpartum and got my period around 10 months with both boys. (I BF until 18 and 20 months.)

I bled for 6 weeks after having my first (he was born csection) and 2 weeks later I got my period back.... Not much of a break for me! And I was nursing too. Each person is different. Hoping for more of a break this time around!
