Padcicles

has anyone or is anyone making padcicles? Are they worth making and does anyone have a good "recipie"?

Re: Padcicles

  • I bought witch hazel and super maxi pads but I'm not sure what to do next...FTM. So I'm curious to see how people respond. I bought the thin maxi pads but now I'm wondering if I should have bought the thicker ones?

  • I made a pack of them to have in my freezer. I bought the thicker pads, for extra protection just in case! I put witch hazel in a squirt bottle, with a few drops of tea tree oil and lavender oil and sprayed that on the pad after I put some aloe vera on it. Then I wrapped them back up and stuck them in my freezer. The hospital I have to give birth at has pads with ice packs sort of built into them, so I'll keep these home to have. I also have dermoplast to use for some numbing if need be. I'm a FTM, but all the new mom's in my squadron recommended I do that. Hope that helps!
  • Sooo worth it! You can use tea (what my hospital does) or witch hazel. I made them with my first and just used witch hazel----they're heavenly! Already made a batch for this time around.
I just use cheap pads from dollar store bc they're not going to soak up anything since you basically saturate them to freeze.
I fold them in half and then freeze bc then they conform to you a little better.

  • Thanks so much ladies! I know what I'll be doing tonight.
  • My hospital provided me with ice pack pads and witch hazel pads. You simply line the ice pack pad with the witch hazel pads and you're done. I personally don't see the need to make anything, just stock up from the hospital supplies. I also think it is worth mentioning that I did not need any ice of any sort after the first day, but I did use the witch hazel for awhile since it helps the stitches heal and prevents them from getting too itchy.
