Share anything humorous or embarrassing that happened during labor. Was something funny said? Did your water break in public? My friend told me after she had the epidural placed she had uncontrollable gas. I had a good personal birth funny to share but due to pregnancy brain I forgot what it was. Hopefully it pops back in my head and I can share.

Oh here's one, when I was getting stitched up I told the doctor to sew it all the way up and I didn't need it any more. I lied.

With DS1, I was about 6-7 cm dilated with awful back labor and no pain meds or epidural. Between contractions, DH asked the nurse if it was at all possible for him to have some Tylenol.. for his headache. Wait, what?? Normally, I would have lost it on him for such a comment, but I actually laughed! I think I was just too far in the zone at that point. Of course, because he was not the patient (ie the one pushing out his son!), she couldn't give him any meds from the hospital, but did get him one from her own purse. Needless to say, he will never live that down! And I do have a bottle of Tylenol packed in our hospital bag...

When baby was born the doc asked my husband if he wanted to cut the cord. On the first try it didn't cut all the way through and blood spattered all over dh's face, the wall, the curtains, and even a chair! It was pretty hilarious. : )

Guys are such wussies when it comes to pain. I can relate to no epidural pain, I came into the hospital too late to get one.

When they turned on the warming machine it said * preheat* . my S/O asked the nurse , "what are we about to do? Bake cookies ? "They started to laugh.. At 10 cm I found nothing funny. Lol

My DH has a fractured knee cap and is in a leg brace and on crutches. I am already anticipating how he'll try to hit up the medical staff for attention while they are supposed to be there for me (and I am dreading it!). He told me he doesnt need to pack Advil in his hospital bag bc "they will have plenty there." I tried to explain your point to him. I am going to show him this post.

I had a c/s so no funny labor moments. But they had to knock me out because of low platelets and the meds made me super loopy! DH keeps makIng fun of me because it took me an hour to eat a thing of jello because I would fall asleep in it. It also took me a long time to text people because I kept falling asleep mid text...

I had a c/s and this was my first surgery period. After they did the spinal block, they helped lay me down on the operating table and spread my legs like a frog to do the catheder. I was nervous about it and the whole team just did all their prep work. After a few minutes of still feeling like I was "spread eagle" down there, I spoke up asking "have you done my catheder yet?" And of course they had done it like 5 minutes prior. I had no clue. So then my last muscle memory was of my legs sprawled out and I kept try to move them and my brain was telling them to move because that would just be embarrassing. I kept telling the anesthesia guy that this felt like an out of body experience and was so bizarre.

We were team green and I asked dh to come up with a name for a girl. He had dilly dallied around even when he knew we were going to be induced. Well when my water broke 2 days before induction. He was asking me what I thought the middle name. I kept telling him I didn't care just pick one. After all I was in labor. He was so mad cause I didn't help him out and I thought it was funny considering I had othee things to worry about. Our l/o ended up being a girl so he had a valid concern. She ended up not having a middle name till she was a day old. And it was a name he saw on a sign at the hospital.

Had a repeat c-section. Baby was breech so the pulled him out by the feet. They got his butt out (head was still in) and he started peeing all over me. The doc was laughing...as were we all. The kid just had to go!

Was having an internal/dr was up in there inspecting me very closely, had the epidural at the time and I did the wettest sounding fart ever. I don't fart infrint of people. My husband nearly fell to the floor laughing, said it was like a gas bomb and I continued on the gas fining it pretty hilarious and made a joke about the
Doctor getting pink eye when he got home.. To the doctor.

Oh how gas/air, epidural and labor turns you into a filth pot. Hahahahaha

I got to the hospital @ 7cm and in settled onto all fours on the triage table to manage contractions. Then everything had to come off for the exam. So the on-call doc and new nurses are coming into the room and there I am, greeting them naked a$$ first.
Finally, an hour later after delivery, i was right side up and we all got to meet face-to-face.

I swear my husband and the nurse debated what I wanted to eat and ordered me a turkey sandwich (something I would never eat) from the cafeteria because it was closing when I was stuck at 9 cm dilated. All I remember was having to waste my 30 second lull between horrible back labor contractions to tell them to stop taking about cold cuts while I have my head in a barf bag. Turkey sandwich showed up just as doc finished my stitches. DS had to run out for Pizza!

When DS was born, DH and I were both pretty overwhelmed. The nurses asked DH if he wanted to take pictures of DS being weighed and measured and he responded in a zombie-like trance "That's OK, I'll get them next time." The nurses laughed and told him to go get the camera, they would wait.

FTM here. No birth story yet, but can it be too late for an epidural? My doctor acts like I can get one anytime I want, even at 10 cm. As long as the anesthesiologist is available.

^^^^ if your a first time mom there's prob time to wait to get one but if your a second/third then the urge to push is usually too strong and you don't have much time. That birth canal has been traveled and it's 'usually' easier and faster. Notice I said usually. Not garunteed.
I would not wait until 10 cm...... It might not take effect fast enough.

bbnmama2012 It can be too late for an epidural. I was in labor for an hour with my daughter and felt like I had to push, so I asked for the epidural and the doctor said that it was too late. It takes 15 minutes to do the epidural and my daughter was here in 10.

Don't judge unless you've been there. I didn't want an epidural until the very end with DS and I would have given just about anything to make that level of pain stop. Baby might be close but you still might need repairs.

I was begging for it. I'll probably end up doing that again. I'll be lurking around the hospital instead of going home like I did last time. Luckily delivery went fast..if he got stuck and I ended up pushing for hours I would have passed out from the pain.

This^. They didn't check me before the epidural. Once it was placed my dr checked me and I was 10. I wasn't even numb yet pushing her out.

I got another funny I just remembered. My mp shot across the room shortly before my first son arrived. The nurse walking past me had to dodge it. Sooo gross!

We had a list of 5 names that DH had been pondering over. He kept saying he needed more time even while I was in labor! Then when the time came to push, instead of deciding, he went to the bathroom and came out with a new name, then proceeded to look up the meaning on his phone.( we are Indian, all names have meanings)
Needless to say, I named the baby what I always wanted. 45 hours of labor got me that veto power.

I gave birth last night after 23 hours of labour with no sleep. I also had a pretty big bleed afterwards. After giving birth I was so exhausted I pretty much passed out and slept for four hours afterwards. DH stayed up and watched over the baby, and when he got hungry put him on the breast where he apparently successfully nursed really well without waking me. This morning when I moved to the maternity ward the nurses were asking if he'd fed (DH had gone home at this stage)- I had to explain that he had, but I didn't know when or for how long, and that despite successfully feeding I didn't know what to do as I was asleep at the time. Apparently breastfeeding works best when you're unconscious!

I forgot about another funny from labor with DS1.. DH and I decided to take a walk about 5 hours into labor to help get things going. We left through the garage and as soon as the garage door shut, DH realized that he had locked us out. He had to call his mom to come over with the spare garage door opener, only to find that the battery in it was dead. Thankfully, she picked up a new one at the hardware store 10 minutes before they closed. I suppose it wouldn't have been the end of the world, but we didn't have car keys or our bags or anything. We have since distributed spare keys to immediate family, just in case.
