Pregnancy Pillow

I already feel uncomfortable sleeping, mainly due to tender breasts, but it't got me thinking how uncomfortable sleeping is going to get. Any veteran moms have a good pregnancy pillow to recommend? Or are they a waste of money?

Re: Pregnancy Pillow

  • I always just used a body pillow, even before and after I was pregnant. It helps me be a little more comfortable without spending a ton on a pregnancy pillow.

  • I recommend the Snoogle. I'm got it really early with my first because of tender breasts. I'm normally a stomach sleeper and had a really hard time sleeping on my side without it. Later on you can use it to support your belly. I'm haven't broken it back out yet but it don't think it will be long.

I also just used a body pillow. I got one cheap from Target and it worked well for me.
  • I just put a pillow in between by knees and also used a regular pillow under my belly a little. I bought a pregnancy wedge pillow but didn't like it. So I plan just to use my regular pillows again.

I bought a snoogle with ds and loved it. I've already busted it out because I am a stomach sleeper and am loving it. I had loaned it to a friend so it's been through 2 pregnancies and its held up well.

  • I'm another body pillow vote! I am a back sleeper so it was super uncomfortable for me to sleep on my side during my first pregnancy. I bought two and put one infront and one behind when my husband worked nights. Worked perfectly and didn't cost me a fortune :D
  • I had breast tenderness in previous pregnancies, but never to the extent of needing a pillow. However, I did use a small pregnancy pillow/wedge later in pregnancy (25 weeks+) to put under my belly or between my legs and it helped. I second the other ladies tho with getting a cheap body pillow. Really does the same thing if you're wanting a "full body" support.

  • I just used regular pillows, they worked fine.
  • The body pillow shaped like a J saved my freaking life last pregnancy. I couldn't have slept without it. IDK what brand it is, though.

  • I just used a ton of pillows, but I know plenty of moms who, even though they're no longer pregnant, still use their pregnancy pillows because they're that awesome. I might get a real one this time around.

  • I loved my pregnancy pillow last time.  I also had the one shaped like a J, I saw ones shaped like a U and thought that would have been great too, but was wondering how DH would have still fit in the bed with it too ;)  Definately worth it!

  • I actually hated the snoogle. I preferred a body pillow and a few extra pillows to tuck around as needed. The snoogle made it really hard for me to roll. I had a boppy snuggle pillow which is much smaller than a snoogle but I loved it. I also have a wedge I use at the end when my belly is huge and I'm always surprised how much it helps.
  • I never stopped using my Boppy Cuddle Pillow. :P

Lol. Neither did I. After 2.5 years I'm buying myself a new one for this pregnancy.
  • hubby surprised me with a u-shaped one during my last pregnancy and it was amazing! around month 5, it became my best friend and favorite thing in the world. one of my thoughts when i saw my BFP was "yay my pregnancy pillow!" lol i usually sleep on my stomach/occasional on my back and can't get comfortable on my side without it.

  • I used about 10 pillows last time, but seeing as I'm already having back issues, I took the plunge and ordered a Leachco Back 'n Belly Contour Pillow. I hope to feel half as blissful while I sleep as the model looks in the photo. https://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Belly-Contoured-Pillow-Ivory/dp/B0002E7DIQ

  • I had a snoogle last time and hated it. I might try it again (as we still have it packed away), but I was better off with a pillow between my knees.

  • It gets very uncomfortable as time goes by. I bought your typical body pillow from target, it was like $10 and it works great. :)

  • I used a normal body pillow during my last pregnancy and also used an extra pillow smooshed in where needed. I found that worked best since it didn't take up a huge space in our bed, although I never tried any of the "pregnancy" pillows. If the body pillow doesn't do the job this time, I'll be on the lookout for a cheaper "pregnancy" pillow.
