ER visit last night..everythings okay

So I have had no complications thus far this pregnancy (FTM), but last night im in the shower and a gush of red, but not bright blood comes out. Also thin...what do I do as FTM...freak the f*** out, scream for DH, get a hold of the on call doctor who says ER it is. Basically, they told us its old blood may have come out from activity yesterday and that this is all fine, plus we got an extra ultrsound to check fluids and got to see how big this little lady is getting and she has hair! :) However, they basically said I may still see this or may not, but if it isnt bright and not enough to fill up a pad this is fine. So for STM's have you dealt with this and should I stop freaking out? I have a follow up appointment Monday, but I am just a worry wart. Im 32 weeks on Wednesday.

  • I have never experienced that but trust the doctor and try to stay calm. I know it's easy to worry about our LOs but seems like she's ok In there!

  • Glad you and baby are okay!! Anytime you see blood when your pregnant can definitely make you worry. So hoping there isn't any more bleeding for you! Maybe a little piece of mind is knowing that your doctor's are on top of it and that the ultrasound showed you and baby are fine! :) GL

Glad everything is ok! FTM but I had something similar happen last week. Woke up to a gush of dark blood which totally freaked me out since I haven't spotted a single drop this entire pregnancy until then at 31 weeks! I saw my ob that morning, I didn't have an US but she checked to make sure I wasn't dilated and said everything looked great and it was probably just old blood. There is a lot more blood flowing down there at this point so according to my ob even sex and cause bleeding like that. She said to call if it continued after a day or two but not to worry unless it's bright red blood or very heavy bleeding. Always good to get check with any bleeding though!
  • I am 31 weeks. Today I have been sporting all day. I haven't had any since 7 weeks. I'm a nervous wreck. It's bright blood. I am also four hours from home. :( The on call doctor wants me to get up to see my doctor first thing in the morning. It's so scary when something like this happens.

  • I've had this on and off for the past two months. At first I was so freaked out. I've had bright red, dark red, plum..spotting, dripping into the toilet...basically every type of bleeding there is! Actually was sent to L&D three times in one week to try to see what was going on. Everything is thankfully perfect, baby looks good, cervix is long, no polyps or anything. I would get so frustrated because it didn't seem like putting my feet up really did any good and even though my activity level would vary from day to day it seemed to have no correlation with the bleeding. I actually got checked out last week because the bleeding lasted longer than I was used to (ended up lasting over a week) and I wanted to make sure everything is still good. My Dr.'s are happy with the way everything is going. As they put it "some women just bleed." It has become such a common thing that I now feel "comfortable" with it and I'm at least confident that I will be able to notice a change in the bleeding that might be cause for alarm. Does it suck? Do I wish I wasn't dealing with it? Ya, of course. I guess my point is that if everything keeps checking out ok, and if you tune into your body, it is definitely something you can live with. Best of luck!
  • Thanks everyone! Had 32 weeks appointment today with doctor who assured me it was okay and told me what to look for for any danger. Also basically told me when in doubt call their emergency line to speak with the person on call that night.

@ashannon3490 im hoping i can pay attention and notice if theres a change that I need to ler the doctor be aware of because it looks like I might just have to live with it too!! My doctor seemed to be the same as yours.

  • Hang in there! As long as I keep feeling him move I feel better. Also, now that we will have having more dr. appointments, at least its more frequent reassurance.
