Anterior placenta club ladies, are you feeling movement yet?

So i was distraught and crying the other day because I was yet to feel movement and that I may not feel it for several more weeks and then it happened...I felt taps on the inside that actually startled me. So I laid my hand on my stomach and felt two more from the inside and out. Now I feel things, but not regularly but it's there. This has been happening for maybe 48 hours. Have you felt anything yet? How often is it coming? I hope that they get stronger and more consistent now.... It makes me so happy :) I have had ZERO symptoms this entire time so I have been using a doppler which makes me feel guilty as I know they aren't proven to be 100% safe. I want so badly to feel my baby regularly because it's the ONLY pregnancy symptom I have other than some ugly stretch marks. Then I will know what it's actually like to feel pregnant lol.

Re: Anterior placenta club ladies, are you feeling movement yet?

  • I have anterior placenta but it's pretty high. I was feeling a ton of movement really low. It stopped this weekend so I worried. Luckily she just started up again. I haven't felt anything high so I keep telling myself that she's just playing up high when I don't feel anything.

I didn't have this with my first. I find it incredibly annoying.

  • I also have a high anterior placenta. Felt some flutters at 19 weeks then not again until 21 weeks. I'm close to 23 weeks now and this baby is having a party regularly.

  • I am a STM with complete placenta previa. I started feeling movement early, but was shocked to see at my A/S just how much I'm really not feeling! Apparently I have a super active baby, but I only feel an average amount of movement.

  • I was super disappointed when I learned I had an AP. I'm an IVF patient too so naturally worry, and having an AP made me so depressed. Like I am doomed to worry for 20+ weeks. I hope the movement becomes stronger and more consistent for us soon!!

  • I have an anterior placenta and sometimes I feel a lot of movement and other days I don't feel much. I definitely prefer the days I feel more kicks!

I have it too. I started feeling some flutters around 15 weeks but I haven't really felt kicks yet. We've felt maybe 6 and they're just very light pushes.

    Edit: I'm 20 weeks now
  • I am now 21 weeks with an anterior placenta. I have no clue if it's high or not (no one has ever said). I have a VERY active boy and felt movement at 19 weeks for the first time, and consistently starting at almost 20 weeks. A lot of the time it's just weird soft movement that I feel, but I do get the occasional kick now.
  • I have the anterior placenta too.  I am 20 weeks and have felt nothing.  I really want to feel her, so I hope it starts up soon!  It is hard because it is my first and I just want to know that she is ok in there.
  • I know how you feel Jessica! This is my first too and it just sucks. I read one story of a woman with an AP that didn't feel movement here whole pregnancy. She felt some but nothing like normal. I burst into tears after redwing that thinking I would have the same fate. I hope you feel a little something soon!

  • I'm 19:5 with AP and not certain I've felt ANY movement yet. During my ultrasound a few days ago I could see baby punching towards my stomach but couldn't feel a thing with that cushion of the placenta. I'm told to enjoy this time cause once the baby gets bigger it'll get annoying!
I can't help but wonder if every digestive movement might be that first kick!
  • I have the same issue I'm not sure if it high or low I was just told that depending where the baby is kicking I will feel it as the baby grows I will feel it more
  • I too have a high anterior placenta. I've been feeling movement for weeks, but there are times that her position is such I don't feel as much (not to mention that DD is a little less hyperactive than DS was), and it drives me crazy wondering if she's OK.

  • I have an anterior placenta. I've been feeling movement since around 15 and a half weeks, but very rare and slight. I'm now 20.2 and have been steadily feeling Baby move more strongly and more frequently. It's so exciting. I can't wait to feel him every day.
  • This is my first, and I have an AP. Not sure if it's high or not. I feel the baby low, started at 19 weeks as what felt like muscle spasms. I'm almost 22 weeks, and while I still sometimes feel the 'muscle spasms', they're more like pops now, which I assume is him kicking/punching. Last night was the first time where I felt it constantly for a good two minutes, but most of the time it's just one or two and then he stops.

Started feeing them around week 20 really low. Had one with my first as well and didn't feel a thing until after 22weeks.

  • 22 weeks. A few thumps here and there. I usually feel her once a day or so but nothing crazy or consistent. I can tell when she moves positions or moves her whole body and the occasional thump really surprises me.

It's definitely improving day to day and hoping to feel her more consistently soon!
  • 22w. My little guy is breech and I'm in the anterior placenta club, too. I asked my doc where I'd feel movement and she said it would all be low for now and harder to distinguish as him. It's becoming more regular, but she mentioned it may be at seemingly random times for several more weeks, like 28 weeks or so.
  • I'm 22weeks tomorrow and am in the AP club. This is my first so I don't really know any different, but I started feeling distinct kicks this last week. It's still random and not consistent, but I feel him at least three separate times during the day. I only feel kicks low, always in the same spot. Hang in there mama, they are coming soon!
  • I'm also a FTM with an AP. Sometimes I feel weird tapping or muscle spasms that isn't gas, but nothing consistent. I'm hoping to feel something more substantial soon, but until then I'm using my Doppler.
  • I have an anterior placenta Im 21 weeks pregnant with twins and feeling huge!!! I know the babies are super active as Im having weekly U/S scans with my fetal med team and they never stay still on screen but I dont really feel the movement very much.... and like so many other ladies that have commented on this thread.... when I do feel them they are gentle "taps" really low down.... its odd really as with my first pregnancy I was feeling my sons feet full force in the ribs by 21 weeks!
  • 20 weeks here, FTM with AP...ditto to how everyone else is feeling. Started feeling a few kicks at 18 weeks but few and far between. Suffered from IF for years and now with a high risk pregnancy I'm just counting down the days when I can feel him more regularly and have at least a little piece of mind!

I too have AP, mine is very low so I feel movement higher up in the left side of my belly button.

Have any of you experienced baby hiccups?? They are those rhythmic tapping feelings, I've experienced it twice and when it happens you can actually see my skin jump ever so slightly when baby hiccups.

    I'm 22 weeks tomorrow.
  • FTM with an AP. I was mentally prepared not to feel movement until 25 weeks or so however I started feeling movement and kicks right at 19 weeks. Currently 21w4d. I usually feel it very low or to the sides. Fruit, Nutella, and juice really get him going.
  • I'm 20 weeks with AP for my third baby. I started feeling daily movement around 18.5 weeks and it is getting stronger every day. I mostly feel him up high or down low.
  • I'm a ftm and just found out I have an AP. Doctor asked if I have felt anything yet, honestly I'm not sure. I hear what it feels like, but I don't know if I've felt that? I just assume it's gas when I feel bubbles. I feel weird with everyone saying they're upset by not being able to feel movement because I'm not upset by it. I know baby is still there, I just saw it a few days ago. I know it'll happen soon, and then I'll look back and go, Ohhhh, so that's what that was.
  • I have an anterior placenta that's pretty high, so I've been feeling a pretty good amount of movement. But sometimes I can also see a little bit of the placenta pulsing from the outside (like if I have a book on my stomach). and that's a little weird. Haha
  • I felt my first kick at my anatomy scan (20 weeks, 1 day).  I mentioned that I hadn't felt any movement yet, and the doctor had me watch the screen, wait for a kick and see if I felt it.  One of my guys kicked right against the ultrasound wand!

Since then, I started feeling a few movements, a few days apart.  Recently (22 weeks), I've started feeling movements more frequently, but not on a regular basis.

My OB says to not expect regular movement until at least 24 weeks, maybe a couple weeks after that.

  • 21 weeks with AP and I feel kicks occasionally throughout the day, usually when I"m laying down, and always low and in the same spot. I did not have an AP with DS #1 and felt a lot more movement with him so I was also bummed about the AP with this one. But as long as the Dr says everything looks good , I try my best not to stress / worry!

I can't for the life of me remember whether I posted to this or not:/ #pregnancybrain

I also have AP, first pregnancy and I am kind of sad at missing out on the kicks. I am 22 weeks and last week I felt two thumps as I was trying to heave myself out of bed- I guess baby didn't like that movement or something, because he def reacted. And at 20 weeks I felt a swoosh. I am can't wait until movement becomes regular...it's hard not to get worried when I don't feel him all the time.

  • Pretty sure I got three or four good thumps last night and one just now!
  • I was told I had AP also and it was around 19 weeks for me. But now at 23 weeks I can feel consistent bumping and kicks. I can see it too. It's so amazing. Hope you ladies get to feel it soon!

I have been feeling baby since around 11wks (third baby) but my midwife says I have an anterior placenta-i have been feeling baby constantly since 11 weeks, am just shy of 23 wks now.. maybe it isn't anterior? Kicks are so strong now my belly wobbles when baby moves, hubby and I had a good laugh last night watching it jiggle when baby moved!
  • I got kicks all day, maybe 10 and 3-4 I could feel from the outside :)
