Low placenta and air travel

Hi ladies. I am 17 weeks and 4 days atm and had my Anamoly scan where they found my placenta to be low. Not exactly covering the cervix but just close to it. My doc said it will be okay to travel a 16 hour flight but I am just very anxious. Has anyone else traveled a long flight with their placenta low ..?

  • Sorry no experience here, but if your doctor says it's ok you should trust them. Is there a reason you don't believe this to be safe?

  • I would go with what your doctor says.

Doctors tend air on the side of caution, so I would think that if your OB is OK worth air travel then it is safe to do so.

  • Yep, i was fine flew 6 hours went on a week cruise flew back. Just take it easy and read up on what it says to do. Like get up and walk when you can stuff like that.
  • I'd go with your doctor because they are the expert. If you do not wish to travel then don't but it sounds like you've gotten the okay from your doctor. I agree with PP that reading up on ways to make air travel better when pregnant is a great idea. I'm sure if you google "air travel tips when pregnant" you'll get lots of info.

Thank you guys. I really appreciate Each one of you for responding. I think I am going to go ahead and travel. I should have some faith in my doc after all. Thanks once again.
