No leaky boobs yet...

I'm 31 weeks today and I have read that leaky boobs are common right now. But I got nothing... I'm sure it's fine but wondering if others have experienced it yet. Should I worry about my milk production? Etc...

  • No, I didn't leak with my first pregnancy. This pregnancy I started leaking at 17 weeks. Every pregnancy/everyone is different. It doesn't effect your milk supply at all.
  • I never leaked while pregnant with my first two and so far not with this one. I successfully BFed the others so I wouldn't worry.

It doesn't matter if you leak colostrum or not before the babies born, it doesn't indicate if you'll be able to breastfeed.this is my 1st baby and I've been leaking since I was 16 weeks but who knows what my milk production will be like. Just remember if you can't it's not the end of the world, I certainly won't get upset. Sods law is you'll start leaking soon then wonder why you wanted it so badly :)>-
  • Ditto what the other ladies have said. I did not with DS and have not yet this pregnancy.
  • It's common, but certainly not imperative. Don't stress about it and enjoy not needing nursing pads before you actually start to nurse :)
  • Thanks for asking. I have been wondering the same thing.

Will be 32 weeks in Monday and I've never leaked. Didn't leaked with DD1 either and I breastfed with no issues.
  • I never leaked with my first. This time around, I'm convinced I could get an ounce out if I pumped ;). No worries.

  • I've never leaked with my babies. I nursed for 13 months with my first with no production issues and even after doing everything possible to inhibit milk production with my second, it still came in fully and painfully :( early leaking means nothing.

  • FTM, I'm not leaking, but if I squeeze my boobs I'll get little clear drops and then thicker whitish stuff that I assume is colostrum. So... Maybe try squeezing 'em??
  • I'm 31 weeks too and haven't leaked.

  • Count your blessings!  In all seriousness, as PPs have said it just depends on the woman/pregnancy.  I asked my doctor about this because when I started leaking I noticed that one side leaked more than the other.  She said leaking has no indication whatsoever on post-baby milk production.  So enjoy your breastpad free pregnancy!
  • Im 31 weeks too and haven't leaked :)
  • Every woman is different but if you have nothing that doesn't effect how breastfeeding will be. I'm a FTM, 29 weeks and I've been leaking since 19 weeks.
  • Lol, I wish! I've started having to wear a bra at home because I'm constantly leaving wet spots in my shirt :/ I hate wearing a bra at home so it's pretty annoying.

  • I echo everyone. Nothing is wrong. But enjoy not having to wear nursing pads now. I'm constantly changing my breast pads. I've been leaking since week 22..... But do not stimulate your them like some else suggested. It can cause preterm labor. It natural makes your body produce oxytocin the stuff they use to induce labor.
  • I have never leaked during pregnancy, but I do get what I have named "nipple boogers" which I consider to be chunks of dried colostrum in the openings of my nipples.

LMFAO. this. Me too lol. Nipple boogers for the last 2 months. I'll take that over leaking any day

    ;)
  • Haha, accurate description... I have this too but it seems to have been there to some degree since I weaned DD last October. That sort of thing would have grossed me out once upon a time, now it's just one of many weird bodily secretions I've become used to...

Sex, pineapple, and walking can stimulate labor too, should I avoid those? Should I tell my husband to not touch my boobs during sex (or otherwise)??

Sex, pineapple and walking are not actually scientifically proven to induce labor the way nipple stimulation is. As for the latter probably depends to what degree your h is engaging in nipple play.

I believe it has to be a good amount is stimuli. Ask your Dr. The other stuff has never been proven to induce labor though.
  • I'm just going to sit here and be jealous of you!  I've had leaky boobs for weeks every single time a baby cries or when I accidentally squish them against something (as big as they are now, it happens quite often).  I'm severely jealous and wish I had boobs that didn't leak!  It's sad I have to wear nursing pads before the baby is born....

  • i have been leaking like a faucet sink 17 weeks with no end in sight.......every night once the bra comes off its leakage city. I can't sleep with a bra so my nightgowns and t-shirts end up with large wet circles - and my husband just laughs and says - uh oh leaky titties again....he thinks its hilarious and the way he says it is quite comical so I laugh too. Nothing we can do about it - so might as well laugh about it! lol wish I would have budgeted for a gazillion boxes of nursing pads so soon though LOL j/k.

i am incredibly jealous of those that have not had it! :)
