Chemical pregnancy?

Anyone have experience with them??? I think I may be going through one. Got a BFP on Monday (actually 4 between Monday and Tuesday). I had saved a digital weeks indicator to take the day AF was expected (today), but it came back with a big fat "not pregnant". I panicked and went and got a FR test and although there is a line, it is SO faint (I don't even think you can see it in the test). I'm devastated :(

Re: Chemical pregnancy?

  • I can't tell you for certain what is going on but digital tests are less sensitive than line tests. I didn't get a positive digital until days after my positive Frer (which was also very faint.) I'm sorry but all you can do is wait a few days and test again. You can also call your doctor and see if they want to do blood work. It could be a chemical or it could just be too early to get a positive digital. Unfortunately, you can't go by my experience because everyone is different. There is definitely a faint line on that Frer. FX for you!

Thanks, hopefully it's just early still. I go for blood work on Monday. Fingers crossed. I just worry that I've never seen a test be that faint before on day of expected period. I do drink ALOT of water (even in the middle of the night) so I'm hoping my urine is just diluted.

  • It sounds more like it's too early for the digital. If your not Bleeding I would say just relax and test again in the morning. Do you know when you ovulated?

Not bleeding yet is the only thing giving me hope. I didn't chart, but I should have ovulated around may 23rd.

  • If the line was darker this past week, and now is hardly noticeable, I'd say it is likely a chemical. The only sucky part about these pregnancy tests being able to detect 5/6 days sooner, is that they can lead to a let down if it turns out to miscarry, which you probably wouldn't have known you were pregnant had you not tested.

I had a chemical pregnancy back before I had kids and it was positive for about two days, then negative.
