Milestone achieved! Puking in a moving car!

This adventure of being pregnant got a whole lot more exciting tonight while riding in a car. We traveled 2 hours away to visit family and were about 20 minutes from home when I could tell ms was coming for only the 2nd time this pregnancy. Luckily, I had brought a bucket "just in case", even though DH thought I was being crazy, and was able to do my biz while DH was going 75 down the interstate.
It was pretty traumatic for him as I apparently have a very aggressive way of throwing up and it sounds like I'm gurgling it. In the past, when I'd puke from too much booze, he'd yell from the other side of the door to make sure I was ok- he cannot handle my noises. He however, took this one like a champ and rubbed my back while drdriving
Thankfully, we made it to the next exit safely and were able to empty and clean out the 1/3 filled bucket. I tell ya what, it's very interesting to see how much volume actually comes out but is not interesting to feel the warmth of the bucket in your lap.
DH was pretty funny afterwards though and said "I see your joy in having ms is over" to which I said, non sarcastic, "heck no! That was kind of fun, puking in a car! This pregnancy stuff is getting better and better!"
Now, if my ms gets as bad as some of yours, I'll probably change my tune but with my lack of major symptoms, it's great to have a nice reminder that my beans should still be doing alright.
10w today and it's started with a bang!

  • I guess congratulations on your achievement should be given! Next time, try throwing up out of the window while you're going 75 ;-)
  • Loading the player...
  • Try a helicopter and airplane, my life last week, lol
  • Yesterday I threw up in a restaurant, so gross
  • Haha I am well aware my excitement is strange but it means I'm still in the running!
No way could I throw up out the window like that. This way, there was no mess to clean up except emptying the bucket.

  • @juju0925, that actually sounds fun too!!!!! It's like a different version of the mile high club.

No, no, no... It's definitely not the same thing as the mile high club. It's awful and your neighbors near you do not appreciate it. Even if they are sympathetic. I'm glad that you're feeling confident by your symptoms, but trust me, you do not want to throw up in an airplane.

    I have a drinking problem:

  • I'm glad you can still have a good attitude about ms! I've had it pretty bad, and everyone I've come in contact with seems to have some solution for it. None have worked, except this tip from my SIL. She said I should put a few gallon zip lock bags in my purse. After I use it, I can just close it and throw it away. So much easier than pulling over and trying to clean out a bucket.
  • I never thought of it that way, I can assure you at the time it was not very enjoyable :)
  • Congrats! Hah I have thrown up while driving , I don't recommend it! I couldn't get over to the side of the road because there was none thankfully made the majority into a plastic bag I had waiting and pulled over as soon as I could but it was terrible :( Hope it doesn't get any worse for you!
  • Zip lock bags sound like a good idea too!
I guess I'm just so happy to be pregnant that I probably wouldn't care where I had to get sick, as long as I was as prepared as I am not and didn't create a mess.

  • I threw up in a UHaul shop/office last weekend. It was so dirty and everyone could hear me.

But anyway, this reminds me of a story a friend of mine told me once. She was celebrating her birthday and on the way home, going 75 down the interstate, had to vomit. I've definitely felt like that could easily have been me in the past couple of weeks. Luckily, I rarely ride in cars so it hasn't been a huge issue.

    The majority? Oh boy. Haha
  • Welcome! I joined that club 5 years ago with our first. Only I wasn't so prepared... I was 5 months pregnant and we were on our way to San Antonio for a babymoon. I was taking a nap when I suddenly woke up and puked and lol over the car while my hubby was doing 80+. I was yelling at him for speeding in between all the puking, but he was in more disbelief that I threw up everywhere.

Oh, and did I mention that it was in his brand new convertible Camaro? Yeah... I didn't feel bad about it though ;-)
  • That sounds terrifying!!!!!
I try to be as prepared as possible, which I know is a joke when it comes to parenting. I've been taking my trusty bucket into the car with me and have a "post puke kit" in my purse at all times.
I'm glad I only have to drive a few times a week and mostly only up the road to the store. I don't know how ladies do it while driving!
