baby's room on 2nd floor, suggestions?

We live in an expanded cape and the main bathroom, our bedroom, and the babies room are on the second floor. I am just envisioning how many times a day I will be climbing the stairs to change diapers, clothes, etc. I also have two dogs who follow me around and often get under my feet while on the stairs (I am so afraid of tripping with the baby). Everyone I know that recently had a kid lives in a ranch or apartment. Did anyone setup something small in a spare room on the main floor? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, I have the same kind of layout. We are planning to do a changing table and sleeping area downstairs too. I think that will make it a lot easier than up and down stairs all day. Good luck!

    I'm in the same position. I have a rocker downstairs in the living room, as well as extra changing supplies (changing pad, diapers, wipes) in the downstairs bathroom. This is my first, so once the baby is here, I figure I'll adapt and move things around as needed.

    If you have a pack-n-play it makes a great changing and napping station for baby on the first floor. That's what we had to do with our first bc I had a c section and was only supposed to go up/down a flight of steps 1x a day, which is where all of our bedrooms are. We plan on setting up the pack-n-play on the first floor again this time.

    Same here, we even bought a mini fridge(for bottles with breast milk) and bottle warmer for upstairs. I read that some people have a play pin with the changing station on it downstairs, we have one but it has a bassinet so I will need that in our room at first. After I will put it downstairs but for now I will just walk upstairs or change him on one of our couches (and keep a basket of diaper stuff downstairs).

    Thanks ladies.. my husband thought I was crazy when I suggested it. We have a pack and play so maybe that's where I'll start.

    We also did the pack n play for naps during my recovery on the first floor while H would be away at work during the day. Had a basket of changing supplies accessible as well.

    We have a diaper caddy that looks like this that we keep diapers, diaper cream, portable changing pad (the type that folds up and velcros), etc. in. We keep it on our coffee table and do baby changes on the couch on the changing pad. It worked GREAT for DS and we will be doing the same thing this time around. Also, I would HIGHLY recommend getting 2 boppies if you are BF'ing - keep one upstairs and one downstairs, it makes it so much easier not having to lug it up and down stairs with the baby all of the time. Your whole house will soon be overtaken with baby stuff, don't worry, you won't be making as many trips up and down as you think :)

    I personally live in an apartment, but I did have an aunt who had a caddy organized with wipes, diapers, clothes, burp cloths, etc. so that it made her easier for her :)
