1 month old wants to be fed every hour?! (new Q in comments)

In the last three days DD wants 2 oz every hour- 25 oz yesterday.  Normal? Seems excessive to me and she's so fussy. :( Pediatrician didn't seem worried, but it's a lot to keep up with.

    Same here, although he's ebf so I can't say how much he's eating. He's gaining weight like a pregnant woman so it's not a supply issue. I worry he's eating too much and maybe that's why he's fussy with gas. I have offered a soothie for the past couple days but he'll only use it for a minute and spit it out. I want to get back on track, it's a bad cycle. He was so much happier on 2-3 hour feeds.

    My DS has eaten 25 ounces for awhile...since we have given formula. But he's on the bigger side. I've read 2.5 ounces for every pound they are.

    Maybe your LO is having a growth spurt.  My little guy did that when he was 2-3 weeks old.  After a few days of it he went longer between feedings.  He actually started sleeping longer too!

    My daughter had the same thing happen, i think it's a growth spurt bcause she also had horrible constipation which also happens during a growth spurt because they use all the milk they get pretty quickly so there isn't much left to be passed which causes constipation and what seems tk be constant hunger.

    It went away yesterday with my LO, thank god!, now she feeds for longer time, i'm BF so idk how much, but she goes longer between feeds and went back to tolerable sleep schedule lol

    My LO is two weeks and eats 3.5 oz per feeding. Sometimes 4. Maybe feeding her more will keep her satisfied longer.

    I should have said that. My DS eats 3-4 oz almost every feeding.

    We just had one & my LO just turned 4 weeks. He wanted to BF every hour. So exhausting!

    Wow! I asked our peditrician if we could increase our LO (almost 6 weeks now) to 4 oz. And she strongly advised against it. She said at this point its better to continue with 3 oz but Increase the frequency (which sometimes an hour between and others, 4 hours). She said not to advance until at least 8 weeks. Its crazy how different pediatricians have such different opinions on things!

    OP, it does sound like your LO, however, might just need a little more. Maybe try 3 oz once and see how she does? How many of weeks is she? But yes, sounds like a growth spurt.

    I would increase food to 3 oz. prob hungry! My baby is 4 weeks old and was fussy at like 2 weeks. Increased food and is doing better

    Go figure! Our dr said 2 oz a feed- she'll be 6 weeks Wednesday.  Her growth is great so I just a assumed it was all good.  :(

    Roughly 16-20 oz per day... 3 weeks.

    DS is 5 weeksand over 11lbs. He gets 25-27 oz per day.
    Although today he's making me a liar because he's not taking his full bottles.

    24 oz for one twin and 28 oz for the other. 7 week old preemies (so they typically eat a bit less than a full term singleton of the same age)

    My son is two weeks old and he is getting 2oz every hour or every two ours he is never satisfied with breastfeeding and he is fussy when he finishes so i had to give him formula from week one as i was recovering from my c section
