Am I the only one?

That finds the term "preggers" and "prego" stupid sounding? I don't know what it is about those two terms for describing a pregnancy that make me cringe?

"To me" it sounds like you are downplaying the fact that you are growing a human - which is no small task I assure you. Haha.

"Guess what, I'm PREGGERS!" <--- now tell me that isn't the most ridiculous sounding way to announce a pregnancy?

Rant over.

Totally agree. I hate both of those terms. And when people use them to describe me when I actually am pregnant.
  • Not alone, I don't like it.
  • I agree. And for some reason the term "WE are pregnant" gets me. Like, only one of us is going a human. Until you put in your time with your head in the toilet, there is no "we". We can both be parents. But only one of us is pregnant lol.

OMG! Me too! "We" are not pregnant, I am pregnant! It burns me to the core.
  • PS. I'm glad yall didn't think I sounded like a prentsious bitch in my OP. ;)
  • Hate those terms!!

I type out preggo because I'm too lazy to type the whole thing but I would never say it out loud. Lols.

  • Also when someone says "I'm with child" not sure why that erks me to death! I mean it may not be the worst but it just feels so disconnected to me..

  • Another term that doesn't really annoy me, but makes me LOL every time I see it is "I fell pregnant". Like you just "caught" a baby or something.

I've noticed a lot of people in the UK say it. Still makes me giggle snort.

Exactly this! I'm very clumsy but I've never "fallen" pregnant - this little fetus took work!
  • This whole thread makes me lol!! No op you are most definitely not alone. I only use preggers or preggo when I'm teasing silly symptom spotters with drive by "am I pregnant?" posts on the ttgp board. "OMG YOU'RE TOTES PREGGERS!!!"
