Swaddle Me??

Anyone using a swaddle me for their LO??

We tried it one night and DS seemed to like it. It was a bit annoying at feeding/changing time but he slept better overall I think.

My DH does not like the swaddle me. He is concerned that it is too tight for DS. I don't feel confident swaddling him with a blanket and he always gets out of my swaddle. So the past 2 nights I have rocked him to sleep and slept in the glider holding him. I can't keep doing this forever though and want options to get him into his own bed.

So my question is, can a swaddle me be too tight? How tight should I be putting him in it??

Re: Swaddle Me??

  • I don't think it can be too tight. Just look at where he was for 9 months.

We use it but LO breaks out of it multiple times a night.
  • We use them every night and she hardly ever breaks out!
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I use them every night with my 2 week old! They like the "tight" feeling it's like the womb for them!
  • Have you ladies been using the swaddle me for naps as well? Or just night time? Just curious.
  • I use them just a night, I find during the day she naps in her swing with just a blanket tucked around her. At night we found it helps keep her asleep as she moves around. Life saver!

We use them at night! DH loves them but I worry she's too constricted in there. We've alternated between PJs and the swaddle me, but she sleeps for longer stretches in the swaddle. DD does try to break out still and usually she has some luck if I'm the one who put it on. Ha!
  • I use them (I was gifted about 8!), and love them! DD doesn't seem to mind being tight held (she's s month old today), and I definitely see a difference in the amount of time she sleeps while in it vs. a blanket swaddle. I usually only use it at night though.

I use mine day and night. In fact, I actually went out and bought more. DD doesn't seem to mind them at all. She actually is less fussy and sleeps better when she's wearing one. So thankful for the pack I got at the shower. I'm an awful swaddler

We double swaddled her (swaddled her in thin Aden & aneis blanket only wearing diaper - then put her in swaddle me) and it worked to get 3.5 hours of sleep. She would have slept longer if I didn't wake her to eat! I'm so happy we found a solution for heR breaking out of swaddled!
  • We love them! We use them at night and if we bring her out in the stroller for an added layer. I worry about construction too so always make sure one of my fingers can fit under the front panels. The Aden blankets we could never get a good swaddle!

Anyone else think their LO looks like a glow worm toy all swaddled up? It occurred to me the other day and I had to make a side by side so DH would understand. (We've gotten better at swaddling since this pic was taken! DH was learning but now knows to not go so close to the neck!)
  • It should be supeEr tight! We tried the Miracle Blanket last night, and it was a life saver. She couldn't break free, so I didn't have to worry about the blanket smothering her. It does have to be very tight though. That'A the only way a swaddle works!
  • We tried it but my LO fussed SO MUCH and would not go to sleep so we had to take it off. Haven't tried it since. My SO is really good at swaddling with blankets so we do that instead since she likes the way he does it.

    I call him a burrito!
  • Aaaand I just just bought some of these..thanks for bringing it up!
  • I think the main concerns with swaddling are overheating and binding their hips too tightly. As long as they are in just a vest or nappy under the swaddle and their hips are not too constricted they are safe. This was the advice given to me by my midwife and health visitor. We definitely get more sleep when she is swaddled!
  • We use them at night and do it very tight around baby. We only use during the day if needed. If he is crying or fussing and none of the usual things work, we swaddle him and de stimulate the environment and he calms every time
  • Mine last 2 lived in them. only way they would sleep except in my arms. As long as you do not bind their hips too tightly, no issues. They even make bigger size ones. My 2nd child was in them until almost 6 months.

  • i suck at swaddling, decided to make a couple cocoons instead, she sleeps forever in it!
