I heard the HB for the very first time...

I bought a fetal heart doppler so I could hear the baby's heartbeat at home. I am exactly 10 weeks today and I found it the second I put the wand on my belly... I quick recorded a video and then after that I found it for only a few seconds during the the 15 minutes I was playing with it. Baby must not have liked it so much (: I haven't even been able to hear it at the doctors office (the transvag ultrasound machine did not have a doppler so I couldn't hear the hb) but I am beyond ecstatic I found it tonight. My nerves have been racking the last couple of weeks and I really just want to make it to second trimester and my next ultrasound in a few weeks. Happy hunting for those heartbeats ladies! <3<3<3

Re: I heard the HB for the very first time...

  • I heard my babies heartbeat last Saturday and I recorded it I listen every day and night that's actually a good buy because I wish I could check everyday to make sure it's still there especially today when I've been cramping really hard :(

  • I am looking forward to this more than anything. Congrats to both of you!
  • Thanks for posting this, I am almost 9 wks and am looking into buying a doppler! It's nice to hear that you could find it at 10 weeks! I wasn't sure when the at home dopplers would start to pick up the sound, but looks like I can go ahead and order! :)

I feel like it will be so reassuring, and also just so cool to be able to hear it regularly. I have plenty of symptoms (bad ms being one) but early pregnancy is still so surreal lol.

I'm headed to amazon to buy now :)
  • Borrowed a fetal monitor at work and found baby's heart beat. I have not even seen my doctor yet so I was exstatic to have the opportunity!!!!! It define try made this whole pregnancy thing more real. Good luck ladies!♡♡♡

Hey ladies! I'm 6 weeks today and my husband bought a dopplar right when we found out we were pregnant. I've had 2 previous miscarriages so he got it to ease my mind in the coming months. My first ultrasound is June 9th and I'm hoping to go see a baby and hear a heartbeat! I've been having cramps but it hasn't been unbearable and I'm not bleeding so fingers crossed it's just part of the first few weeks of pregnancy!

Cramps were my first symptom but now they are not as frequent, but still there. 6 weeks might be a little too early, so do not be discouraged if you cannot find it until 8 weeks or so. Good luck! And to all who are curious, the brand I bought is Sonaline (mine is Sonaline A, but most women here say they recommend Sonaline B, I honestly don't think it matters). Be sure to get a doppler with 3 MhZ not just 2, because the 3s are more sensitive and will pick up baby much easier. Good luck everyone!
  • I want to get one so bad but my DH thinks I will completely freak out if I don't find the hb. He is probably right but I would still love to hear it at home.
  • We have one from my first pregnancy just so I could listen between appointments to ease my mind some. I'm not quite far enough along yet to use it and I'm actually going back and forth about getting it out again until after my next appointment just so doc can find hb first and then I don't think I would freak as much if I wasn't able to find it right away myself.

How exciting! I have one from my last 2 pregnancies but I'm only 8 weeks so I haven't pulled it out yet. I'll try around 91/2 weeks I think

It takes a few minutes to find, but once you do, it is one of your favorite sounds. I was stressing out a little bit, expecting the worst for my next ultrasound in a few weeks, so the doppler helps ease my mind. As long as I know there's a little heart beating away in there somewhere, I'm elated. Just gotta wait to see how much he's grown since the last ultrasound (: try to convince your DH, he might not care, but you are the one that's pregnant after all, not him. (:

Can anyone post a link to one on Amazon? I'm not sure if it's cause I'm on mobile but I can't find ANY dopplers! X(

Edit! I came across another post that recommended fetaldoppler.net & the sonoline B 3 mhz - I'm not sure if the site is one of those that marks things way up so the sales look good, but I just ordered one for $43 bucks  (vs the list price of $300!). Super excited!! :)

I bought a doppler and it arrived yesterday. I tried it out at 9w1d and I believe I was able to hear my femoral artery and the placenta, but no baby. I'm not that surprised, though. I have a little extra padding around the middle and I think baby is too deep to be picked up right now. Hoping that all changes in a week!

  • @LibM my doppler isn't totally accurate, but when I keep the wand still the BPMs get up to 160-170 (it was 164 in the doctors office.) As long as it sounds fast, I wouldn't worry about the number (: @MMLmeow when I first tried I couldn't believe how much lower it was than where I was looking. When I am laying flat on my back, my hip bones kind of pop out and that's the level of my belly where I found baby. I have a mole in the exact spot where I found the HB so I kind of cheat and it's easy for me to find lol. Good luck (:
  • @LibM the heart beat should definitely be over 100- if it's under 100 you probably are listening to your heartbeat instead of the baby's
