Victoria's Secret is having a huge sale on their jammies. I would like to order a pair or two for the hospital so that I feel pretty and look nice. I am wondering if after delivery and my first shower, is the mess over? I know that there will be bleeding, is it something that is contained with granny panties and a pad or should I just wear black yoga pants to cover up the carnage?

I have bled through onto every set of pajamas after each child. It is pretty heavy and hard to control even with the fishnet granny panties and the gi-normous pads.

If you buy something pretty which is nice to have for pics and to feel good, just be ready to pitch them afters :-)

I'd suggest black fold over yoga pants. I didn't have any bleeding beyond the norm and I still had some issues keeping it contained. It made me feel more comfortable and wasn't cause for embarrassment.

My advice would be to buy a cute top and wear black yoga pants. Unfortunately, it can get pretty messy. Idk what it's like for a vaginal birth (I'm assuming same or worse), but with a c-section, I couldn't move for quite a few hours and had a nurse coming in to change the granny panties and pads for me. It was horribly embarrassing, but honestly you can't do much about it.

I mean it is like no period you could ever imagine and it smells terrible. I just wore a hospital gown until I got dressed to leave the hospital because between docs checking my vag or having to "lovingly" massage my uterus (aka kneading the shit out of it) and then breastfeeding every two hours wearing real clothes just was not worth it.

Same here. I remember I stood up for a few minutes the second say I was there and all the sudden I looked and I was bleeding onto the floor. It's unreal. No clothes for me until I'm leaving.

I wore this style caftan and it is now my current pjs since I'm getting so big. After my csection it was perfect because I didn't have anything putting pressure on my incision.

The giant pad, ice pad and mesh undies were enough for me. I wore a two piece pj set with a tank underneath for easy breastfeeding. I felt MUCH better the minute I got out of a hospital gown and had a shower. I wore yoga pants at home with granny panties once I ran out of the mesh ones.

Meh, I just rock some yoga pants. I've never put so much thought into what to wear while in the hospital until being on this board. Could be the number of FTM's...I'm not sure.

For those who wore yoga pants, did you wear maternity or some you had pre-baby? I have a pair that aren't maternity that fit comfortably until about 6.5 months but now at 8 months, they're pretty snug. I was planning on wearing those after I deliver but I'm not sure how big/swollen after delivery I should expect to be so now I'm wondering if I should get a pair of maternity ones to take.

I wore my maternity yoga pants- I was extremely swollen and bloated still - plus wanted an extra wiggle room if needed

I don't have maternity yoga pants at all. That's why I'm a big fan of the fold-over ones. That way I can wear them after I have her and not have to feel bad that I'm still in 'maternity' clothes.

I wore my pre-baby yoga pants. I was attempting to suck EVERYTHING back in lol. They stretched so it was fine.

I think I'm in the minority but I really didn't have crazy bleeding afterwards...I was expecting it to be a lot worse but it was like a heavy period for a day or two and then tapered off really quickly. I slept on a towel for a while afraid of ruining my sheets but never did have any leaking problems.... If you buy new pjs maybe just get a dark colour that a stain wouldn't be noticeable so they aren't ruined even if you do have issues?

It really depends, I had very heavy bleeding with my first but just heavy period-like bleeding for my second.

I think cute jammies are a nice idea but I wouldn't buy nice Victoria's Secret ones - maybe Wal Mart or Target.

I loved nursing gowns for afterward or even just a nightgown if you're not nursing. Keep in mind you'll probably still look about 6 months pregnant and, if you end up having a c/s, anything that goes over your incision might be uncomfortable. I didn't wear anything remotely resembling pants until I was discharged and I was in there 6 days the first time and 5 the second time. Given that you'll look like a war zone down below the gowns were just much easier in terms of access. Gowns were my preference and I'm not one to ever wear nightgowns.

Wear the gown or something casual. Looking pretty is going to be the last thing on your mind due to the bleeding, maybe nursing, and vag checking you will endure.

VS does have some black pajamas so id say that'd be your best bet if you want to get them. As other posters have said the nurses will be checking your goods a few times so I went with a dark colored nursing nightgown and cotton robe for this time around.

I bought a pair of loose fitting yoga pants, black of course. This time I'm bringing ja few pairs because the last thing I wanted to be in was the hospital gown. I took a shower and put myself together before people came. I feel like it helped me recover.

I wore black yoga pants and a nursing cami (no bra). I had a csection and I bled through both yoga pants. I had only brought two pair so my loving husband had to do laundry and bring them back to me.

After reading this post I found some super soft and comfy pj pants at Walmart for $10!!! I plan to wear in hospital and after. I got black and a dark purple and since they were so cheap I'm not too concerned if they get messy post delivery. I will wear with some nursing tanks and a robe in the hospital and then just throw on a decent maternity shirt for coming home

i have a sweet pair of black gaucho style pants (lol!) that I plan to wear home with a loose fitting maternity top - might take a loose dress in case its super duper hot - but aside from that I will likely live in hospital gown until ready to go home. I might also bring an extra loose fitting top to wear for when people drop by and just keep the hospital undies on with blankets over my lowers for those visits. I don't intend to allow my visitors to stay for hours and hours - so that would make my top half presentable while still being comfy under the blankets.

So much to think about!

I didn't change out of the hospital gown and mesh undies until I was discharged with both of my kiddos. Easy access for babies and nurses, and if stuff gets all over everything, I am paying them a lot of money to replace it!

I delivered vaginally and stayed one night with my first and two with my second, so I might add a robe to my bag this time, since I anticipate it will be a c-section and I will be travelling to the NICU. But, I have no shame either

I just got two night gowns that are more like long lose tank tops that unbutton down the front (will be good for feeding) at Kmart! I didn't want to spend much since everyone says they'll be ruined but I like the idea of looking a little nicer when people come by! Thanks for the ideas/input ladies
